Malice
I just got my extended handle BBE from GSS to use when doing severe negatives. Using a regular gripper kills my pinkie when bumping it shut and when I tried one with the extended handle gripper it really made it not only more comfortable but a lot easier to close it. I'm going to take it in to work tomorrow and file the short handle tomorrow for BTR. Anyone else like using the extended handle grippers for negs? Joefrey
I'am currently using BBSE with extended handle and it's really great ! The setting is easier and you don't kill the other hand while setting. This gripper is really well done. Enjoy !!
Cannon
Do you guys anchor the long handle?
IROC-Z
I picked up an extended handle BBE and BBSE from GSS a few months back. At first I found them very awkward to train with. I sent an email to Wade asking him for some advice, and he told me to put the extended handle into a piece of pipe that is anchored to something, then pull it out of the pipe once you get the gripper closed. It works like a charm! Edited June 15, 2010 by IROC-Z
Joefrey
I use it this way : I place the end of the extended handle on my hip while sitting. Then I push on the other handle, the other hand maintaining the gripper near its spring (no finger inside !)

Once I get to using the heavier grippers I'm sure I'll end up trying the hole in the stud trick.
Malice
Just finished a workout using the extended BBE after filing a bit off the handle and it's amazing how much more beat up my hands are from this than with my #3 even with less reps. I'm liking this bad boy!! Unfortunately I think I'll be selling it soon and picking up an extended BBSE.

I have an extended handle Grandmaster but have not shaved it yet. I am thinking that would make it easier to train that last eighth of an inch (of a normal handle close). Malice
So far I've only shaved off maybe 3/16". It's not much but I don't need much right now since it pops right open but I'll shave it down more in the future. I've shaved some of my other grippers and it definitely helps with the final close. Severe negatives and BTR training has done the most for my strength in finally touching the handles on the 2.5.

I'm surprised that you would need an SE over a filed Elite as a 2.5 closer. If you're not resisting the gripper through that tight range of motion, then the negative isn't doing much good. You're working your sweep at that point. I wouldn't go to an SE until you can basically hold the Elite shut for the first negative or two. Malice
That's the plan Cannon. Saying I'll be needing the SE soon is more about positive thinking on my part. I'd say it's popping open about a half inch and I can hold that for a second or so before it starts creeping again. Of course that's the first couple reps then it opens more right away. You should consider a GM for negs right away If it pops open to 1/2", you're not working the close or BTR despite having forced the gripper shut that far. Just something to consider! Malice
I would've picked up a GM if they had one with an extended handle but the elite was the lightest one with it. I guess I could always buy a GM and just swap the extended handle over to it for now.

I think Canon is right on with his comments. I can hold an extended handle WC at around parallel but would have problems holding a shaved E. Most of my negative work is static holds for at least half the workout then increasing weight until it pops me open to around parallel. Jörmungandr
Actually I was looking for an extended GM when I placed my order at GSS. Would've bought one if they where in stock.
