Need Help With My Pinch

Recommended Posts

So here is the thing.

Since I started training my grip on a regular basis, alot of people in "my" gym have become interested and we now have a top 6-pinch list.

I´m currently #3 on this list with a meager lift of 67,5kg. I simply can´t stand beeing #3, I need to be #1.. and stay there :whistel

The rules for our gym are:

1: the weight must be lifted to a complete lockout

2: One must always use 2 smooth 20kg plates to grip (65mm wide in total)

Hit me with your best tips for improving in pinch gripping :help

I do lotion my hands from time to time and get rid of excess skin on a regular basis but they are still ehh.. a bit rough. :tongue

#1 in the 2HP in my gym is 75kg for the moment (my personal best is only 67,5kg)

Not a big number here on gripboard but I´d say it´s decent for someone who never trains grip. :blink

My thumbs obviously needs to get stronger. But how? Is there any exercises that directly strengthen the tumbs that´s similar to TTK?

Aha, pony clamps, had completley forgot about those. Thank you :bow

An investment in the TTK will come later.

I used pony clamps for the last few months before getting my TTK and gained quite a bit of strength using them.

Train with gloves on , it does not tear the skin and you can then increase training volume.

Best of luck, you'll soon be number 1!!

I saw mobster has used gloves in the past as well. Are u using the cheap cotton ones or something like a mechanic glove that's more form fitting? I used a sander to take the edge off my 2HP so I don't get the skin tears plus I'm a little calused up from doing it with no gloves.

Jedd - the current record holder has an e-book or DVD out on this. It might be worth a look or three.

Hell Ricco,

Any old gloves will do mate as long as they protect the hand.

Also good to keep on during competion or heavy training to keep hands warm in between lifts.

Remember that you will lift less with the gloves on,not to get disheartened.

Chris,

Check it out, if calusus are the result of pressure on "thin skin" do you still get your calusus where you need them to be so you don't get skin tears when you don't use them? I guess you would have to do the gloves for a wile to find out.
