stevey7
Im giving myself more rest inbetween workouts,my hands feel more alive.Dropping loads of endless negs has changed the endurance on my hands but I can get more reps out on the #2.5 which is what im after at the moment alot of people said about 5 reps on the #2.5 and your there,im on that now so it should not be long. bencrush
That's the spirit! Glad to see the change in title. I've been in your shoes (and smaller maybe) and it's daunting sometimes when you are working toward the #3. But you'll get there with plenty of encouragement, motivation, and perspiration. acorn
Much better! With this attitude you will close it, just a matter of time. - Aaron

Geralt
Keep it up! I've choked my #3 to parallel and since i'm training once per 3 days, i'm suddenly closing it from that point consequently. Guessing that daily griptraining isn't an option for my body. By the way, i use my Vulcan for full reps and strapholds on level 10 (end of 2.5 level). Much better to have an adjustable gripper or more 'in between' grippers in my experience from here. Wish I would've done that much earlier on! Problem is after doing one or two closes (lots of chalk) my strength flows away very quickly. Gotta train of that. In my experience I would definitely advice doing strapholds and the use of a choked goal gripper Stevey.
stevey7
Today I got into things after having three days off from all types of training,I started on my filed #2.5 and got 4 parallel reps,Im still a bit of with the #3 but its coming alot easier to keep a good set a closure I know now its soon gonna be closed if I Train smart. JackAces
think its a big wake up call the coc3. it took me 2 weeks to close my coc2 but then over a year to close the 3! dont let it dishearten you. the hard road to 3 teaches you alot too, i learned very little from closing the 1 and 2 but it takes more than grit to succeed with the 3. the thing that tipped it for me was collars/chokers though. stevey7
The #3 is still beating me,but I can close it from being chocked at 22 mm im just gonna keep opening it up wider when I keep closing it,my best training comes from 3-4 times a week im now staying with that. Stew
I dont know about others but it took me quite a while to close the 3 compared with the 2 and 2.5 but then one day out of the blue it just closed and once its gone its no longer a problem. Just like when you shut the 2 and then you found you could do it pretty much as you wanted, same thing happens with the 3. It takes ages then one day it will close and after that the boundary is broken and you will just shut it whenever you want to.
MVillani1985
From the time I started grip training in 2005 it took me until May of this year to finally close the #3 (of course injuries interfered), but during that time I never gave up, and I'm glad you're as determined as I always was. But for me, I'm not merely content with the #3. My goal is to close the #4 and do it with a wide enough set to become certified by Ironmind. It's only a matter of time before the #3 falls for you, just like it's only a matter of time before I fell my #4. Think of you conquoring the #3 is something inevitible, and your #3 is only delaying its inevitible fate as a gripper that's about to have its handles ground mercilessly after you close it. I'm going to grind the handles of my #4 once I actually close it (first I need to learn how to finish off grippers better, my current grip training regimen has gotten me to where I can almost close the BB Super Elite, but sometimes I struggle with the #3 and Elite, grippers I normally can close). By the way, what's the spread on your #3? If it's a superwide #3 like mine, that may be your issue. The BeefBuilder Grand Master is a supposed #3 equivilent, but I was able to almost easily close my Grand Master before I could close my #3 (which is 3 3/16" wide with subflush mounting, while my Grand Master has normal mounting and is slightly narrower than average). It might help to get a BeefBuilder Grand Master if you have a wide #3.
tchcalvin
My BBGM is calibrated at 143. I dont know what my #3 is at but my GM is much easier than my #3... my #3 is probably 155lb on the RGC scale. This may help you bridge the gap. I closed my BBGM about 3 months before my #3.

tselegala
You're still fighting huh? Awesome! i think you might have a hard 3. With 6 closes on a filed 2.5 it should go down. Just curious...what do you do on days you attempt the 3? like for warmup? Sometimes, i would just grab my 3 and try to close it without any warmups and the handles would not touch...then i warm up with the 1 ,2 and 2.5 for a single or 2 and then the 3 closes...then i keep doing singles on the 3 and all of a sudden i grind the handles...then the 3.5 closes etc.
stevey7
On the days I attempt the #3 I do a couple of singles with a 1.5 and 1 single with a 2.5# and then go for it.

Malice
Who did the calibration on your #3? Now that I'm actively working to close my 3 I want to get it calibrated but don't know if anyone near me does it. I could always build my own rgc but am feeling lazy enough to want to pay someone else to calibrate it for me hahaha.

You should come down to Tucson for one of the group trainings I put on. Also I got a grip buddy not on this board who lives near Mesa. - Aaron
