User99
Does anyone use those chinese iron balls in any way during their grip training? I just pulled out my dusty old chinese balls and started playing with them. They used to be pretty easy to spin around in my hand without clacking them together but when I started back with them it was a bit tougher. Now that I've got the hand of the clockwise motion with my right hand, I'm trying to do counter-clockwise in the right hand. I've done just the opposite in my left hand. It's pretty amazing how quickly the dexterity in one's hand will return. Would you think these excersizes help on the 'off' days to recover? Would it be beneficial to incorporate them in training of some sorts? Or just keep playing with them, trying to get faster in both directions with both hands? I can't remember who it was, but someone's Avatar is a hand pushing two LARGE metal balls around. How about that for a feat of strength? Or just an amazing hand trick? Griparn
I think they are useful for recovery and improving dexterity. Train them both directions and upside down, training up side down I felt strengthen the thumpad muscle. Here is a video of some movements with my steel shots. Scott Styles
My avatar has 3lb shotputs. It's a neat trick, but just takes some practice. My hands are 7" and not that strong. I think the smaller weighted balls help with recovery. After trying everything from hollow to those shots, I settled on a pair of 2" solid balls from handhealth.com. They might weigh 6oz each. Autolupus
Mine are 100mm/4" dia. 4.15kg/9lb2oz each. The duct tape makes them more difficult to rotate smoothly but I have had them running smoother than in the clip, no-where near as fast or smooth as Griparn's though. I have two duct-taped that I roll around in both hands as well. Another great use for duct tape...
