Malice
I know I just started another Blob50 thread but I thought I'd start a Blob goal thread like the #3 Cert thread. My goal is to lift the Blob50 by the end of this year and this will be where I post milestones and PR's on the way. If anyone else wants to join the mission to lift it as well post up. I'm a complete newb to pinch training so any tips and tricks that will help me and anyone else is greatly appreciated.
Malice
Do you have a pic of a deloader?
Malice
Do you have a pic of a deloader? No, but it is very simple: a length of cord, 2 pulleys, material to make a harness for the blob, carabiner. Poke a hole in each end of your harness and tie a length of cord hole to hole. Attach the pulleys to the ceiling or overhead on a power rack....I clipped mine into the frame for the garage door track. Run cord though pulleys, clip carabiner to harness cord and tie amount of weight you want to de-load your blob by to the other end of the cord. Simple and effective. Right on. Sounds easy enough, thanks! I'll make one this week. Probably need about 45lbs on it hahaha. Actually I added 25lbs to my Blob50 and was lifting it 2 handed pretty easily but the deloader sounds like a much better idea. How many days a week did you train the blob? Bob Lipinski
If this thread stays around I will update. The blob50 isn't a main goal, but I am always shooting for it.
Malice
It'll stick around Bob cuz when I lift it I'll keep updating as I clean it, then press it, then switch hands, then juggle 3 of 'em...lol
Griffin
Here is Casey Emery's version of the deloader. http://www.youtube.com/user/caseyemery#p/u/33/b3qX8NfDYl4
BillEinstein
I think you guys are all over complicating the deloader. A good buddy showed me this one, and it's the best way I've seen. Just make a little seesaw. Here's what I did; I took a length of 1" X 4" wood, that's about 4 feet long. Put 8" of books in the middle as the fulcrum, but anything would work, a dumbbell wood etc. Then put the weight to be lifted on one end and a light weight on the other end, stepping on it would work to. If your weights slide then you can put a chock strip of wood on each end, or even just tie the counter balance on. For the blob side, since they vary in shape, you might like to screw in a chock on both sides of it, although it's not really needed. The neat thing about this setup is you can incrementally move the counter balance weight closer to the fulcrum to increase the weight of the blob you're working at. The deloader my buddy made is a little seesaw, but it's even simpler, the center fulcrum is a piece of 2" X 6" which is screwed to the plank through the top with wood screws and the plank is a 2" X 6" piece that's about 3 1/2 feet long, and he has a piece of rubber mat on top of the plank so the weights don't slide. BillEinstein
I thought I'd remembered a picture of the deloader so I called William and he told me where it is. That's it with a 70 lb. db counter balanced with what looks like about 15 lb. Looking at the picture it appears I was wrong, it looks like the fulcrum on his may be a 2"X4" and it looks like there is a rubber chock on the db side to make it stand straight up. And I thought I remembered the rubber mat being all the way across on top of the plank, but it appears it's just on the end. I don't know, thinking about it, I think this deloader might be a different one from the one I remember, but it's close enough for and illustration of concept. David_wigren
I'm in. I've hated that blob50 for the better part of 2 years now. I was in a blob race with Andy/hellfire, and he kicked my butt big time. Einstein, that seems like a really smart idea. I'm going to make one right away. Thanks for the picture
Malice
Thanks for all the cool deloader ideas guys!! I'm obsessed with lifting this thing. I just got back from Home Depot and got the stuff to make mine. Now it's just a matter of getting off my lazy butt and make it. I'm going to use a piece of wood as the sling for the blob side so that I can also use it for the Inch Dumbell when I get it.
Malice
Ok, I finished the deloader. Even with tired hands from gripper, 2 hand blob with 20lbs added, and RT yesterday I was able to get down to 15 lbs on the deloader. If I can lower that by 5 lbs a month I should be able to lift this bad boy in 3 months...hopefully. Who knows, maybe it'll be 12.5 or even 10 lbs with fresh(er) hands. For now I need to stay the heck away from it so I can have an actual rest day today.
Malice
I'll be hitting up play it again sports tomorrow and get a bunch of e.5 and 1.25 ounders. I'll use beer cans of varying levels for even less weight if I have to...lol. How often did you lower your weight Hell? I've never used a deloader for lifting weight before. Malice
Got a new PR with the blob today. Got down to 12.5lbs on the deloader and felt I could go even lower but I couldn't get 10lbs. I need to find something lighter I can use to micro load even more.
Malice
Got a new PR with the blob today. Got down to 12.5lbs on the deloader and felt I could go even lower but I couldn't get 10lbs. I need to find something lighter I can use to micro load even more. Look for some .5kg plates. Those helped me a ton. I've been looking for them but will have to order them. Nobody around here carried anything lighter than 2.5lbs and that includes Play It Again Sports. One FBBC old school gripper is probably close to a pound so I'll put one of them on top of the plates hahaha
Autolupus
You could also go buy a bunch of really large washers and weigh them to see what you're working with. If you have a scale you can micro-load with H2O . I pinched that tip from Ben Edwards. ...or a bag of rice, sand, old Barbie doll heads... Martin Gaisser
Ok guys count me in as well. I started lifting mine the other day so might as well. If I could get this one all I would need to do is tune into my rolling thunder and try to get on Wade's heavy list in the Grip Gauntlet next year. That would be awsome. We'll see how it goes. Heck if we're going to shoot for 2 of the 3 let's get'em all!! Somebody start a rolling thunder thread now. I got tired just thinking about it. Malice
I'd like to do the gautnlet next year too...at the Arnold. These 3 are the main grip events I'm working on this year for that reason. I have a LONG way to go on RT though.
Malice
Got another PR on the blob today! I got 10lbs on the deloader to full deadlift with both hands and managed to get a couple inches of air with 8lbs.
Malice
Got another PR on the blob today! I got 10lbs on the deloader to full deadlift with both hands and managed to get a couple inches of air with 8lbs. Nice job. Once I was under 10lbs things happened quicker. If you haven't already start some negatives. Will do. Thanks for the advice!!
Malice
I had some strength back in my hands again today and decided to do a blob workout. I couldn't get to full dead with 10lbs on the deloader again but I did clear a few inches so that's good. I also picked up the 45 York blob about a foot off the ground by itself! Did 4 negatives as well with the Blob50 and felt real good with these.
Malice
Got a new PR today. I lifted the Blob50 with 8lbs on the deloader to full deadlift lefty and to knee height righty. Each pound less is a huge step closer.
David_wigren
Well I finaly got to building myself a blob deloader. Went better than I expected. Got a pretty strong lift with either hands with 2 kg on the deloader. Got a strong 3-4 seconds hold with my right hand aswell. Tried a 1.1kg plate but no dice. I didn't think I was this close. I'M COMMING AFTER YOU BLOBOA!!!
