From todays grip training session, had a good feeling with Fatbar DL 160 and 170kilos so tried PR 180kg... :D Had to do it 3 times because of "technical problems with mobile phone camera": friend missed camera shooting TWO times :flame But finally got it on tape... :dry

Sorry about the quality of video and sound, taken with Nokia mobile.... :D

Congrats on a huge pull!

When people used to ask him how it was he became so incredibly strong, it was always the same, "strengthen your mind, the rest will follow". The Mighty Atom

Age wrinkles the body. Quitting wrinkles the soul.

Being prepared for any random task is not the same thing as preparing randomly for any task.

I train this exercise with the strongman guys who use the gym. Here are our bests:

(2'' axle to full lockout, with no hitching.)

Mark - 175kg

Me - 165kg

Ben - 155kg

Radek - 145kg

Not sure what the other lads managed, but only 4 of us managed over 140kg.

Great lifting Timo !!!

My best with 2" bar is 230 kg.

It is a great exercise and will build you forearms like Louis Uni !!

Good luck for the 200 kg

with no hitching, i don't know what you mean; no knurling on the bar ???

I guess no hitching means not dragging it against the shins and thighs, making the lift easier.

No re-bend of the knees to regrip and then finish the pull. This is a hitched normal deadlift:

When the DO DL was contested at the euros last year a hitch was cause for failure. Don't worry though, your lift was good!!!

To pull little bit more than others in Europe... :D

Seriously speaking 200kg pull would be nice on Finnish open-competition at fitness-expo 3-4.10, other 3 parts of competition are new RT, Grippers CCS-set, Europinch. Overall winner gets some money and ticket to compete in arnold classic...

After seeing Rch and Tex lately getting lots of air time with the 202lb. 3" handle Arnold's Circus Bell and Richs 511 double overhand deadlift on a 2"bar I would think since he is even better at reps he would come very close or would do 182.5 Kilo for 10 reps (400lb about 10 reps) I also want to push him "a bit" with the 172lb Inch Bells and see what feats he can do with them. I "caught" him the other day doing bent over rows for reps with a pair of them( no straps ,strict)).( I saw him bent row 585X3 last night and Rolling Thunder deadlift 252 with either hand using the new Ironmind handle)) I think if he could get them( The Inch's) to his shoulders he would press them at the same time.RS

Sounds like Summer Strong next weekend could be a special day. I'd love to clean 1 Inch (and jerk), let alone think about 2 and press. I can't wait.

I think any implement that has a thick handle is relevent and useful to increase thick bar deadlifts, The question was asked in relation to what others can or have done. RS

Timo asked what others had done. Richard was just answering the question.
