Grippster Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 What a cheap, effective way to exercise wrist strength and thumbs. Who doesn't have a tonne of scrap paper lying around? You're gonna throw it in the recycling bin anyways, so you might as well tear it. I tried folding a regular sized piece of scrap twice and tore it with no effort. The more you fold it, not only does the thickness double, but it also becomes smaller which gives less of a mechanical advantage. It's hard with my bad ulnaris carpi extensors but I found it really gets the blood into the elbows and forearms. I tried tearing a piece with 5 folds (32 layers) and that's pretty tough. I have a lot of respect for the guys who can tear 52 cards all at once, and then they also have that plastic finish that makes it even tougher. Screw card tearing, scrap paper is free! Quote
Guest indi Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 i do the same with newspaper. granted its not the same as a deck of cards or a phonebook, but if it increases strength, i aint complaining Quote
