maidenfan Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 (edited) I've been wanting one of the Torque Athletic pullup stations for a long time, but didnt want to pay the $500 + shipping price tag. I got back into the local college shop class and built this today. Main frame is 3" square stock with a 1.5" solid bar with v-bars for chins (straight bar chins kill my elbows) - adjusts to a hair over 9 feet. Kind of heavy for a portable station, but its rock solid and it only cost me $22.00 Morgan's Pullup Bar Edited April 13, 2009 by maidenfan Quote Morgan Guthner Fairfax, VA Goals - be a better arm wrestler

austinslater Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Morgan, Looks nice! Ive been wanting to build something similar myself. How did you do the v-bars? Off a straight bar with 2 handles? Hope this makes sense. Hope all is well to bro, Austin Quote Austin Slater West Richland, Wa
maidenfan Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 Good to hear from you Austin. I just angle cut some roundstock and welded it directly to the main bar, about shoulder width at the widest point - just angled handles, not really a V. I cannot do chins without developing a serious case of elbow tendonitis - the angled handles allow me to work my arms very well now. Doing chins the opposite way on the bars makes a great rowing workout. I cut some 2.5" outside diameter schedule 80 pvc to slide over the handles for a kickass thickbar workout. I did think about making a monkey bar, but decided on the traditional straight bar. Next Sunday I'm making a set of free standing dip/parallet bars. maidenfan Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 Nope - did everything myself. This program is pretty cool - I spent the first semester learning how to weld and use the shop equipment. Now, I'm just renting shop time with my tuition. Quote Morgan Guthner Fairfax, VA Goals - be a better arm wrestler

maidenfan Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 Heres an 80lb (79.6) curling DB. I've been trying some real basic bodyweight stuff the last couple of months and I'm making some progress, but my bodyweight (280ish) makes them extremely difficult. Bodyweight stuff is kind of like powerlifting when I do them Paul - sounds like a challenge! Paul - just tried it - no way is it going to happen. The ends are just a shy smaller diameter then my blob50 and I can do that one on a good day - 80lbs - no way. Quote Morgan Guthner Fairfax, VA Goals - be a better arm wrestler
