mglassner Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Hey guys, I was wondering how common my injury is and what the ETA on recovery is based on anyones experience. bascially i was going for the yellow nail and afterwards i noticed that my middle finger tendon in my left hand was hurting. its been about 2 days since and it hurts when i try and close things like a stapler for example (havent done grippers since). Anyways, I iced it afterwards. its wierd though, it doesnt hurt when i touch it or anything, just when it moves in certain directions/angles so i figure i strained the tendon...does that sound rihgt? thanks fellas, Max Quote
mglassner Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 put some windex on it yea yea yea, anyone else? Quote
ewokhugo Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Max, because it only hurts in certain directions i would try to bend using other styles for a while(u dont need to stop bending) ... reverse /heslep style or DU may be suitable . Quote Hugo Sá e Castro 33, 6"0", 200 lbs.
easyWeight Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I don't want to sound like a jerk, but if you're going to bend steel, get use to it! There's really not a day that goes by anymore that some part of one of my hands, wrists or forearms don't hurt. Especially if you're new to bending, your tendons are going to need a little time to get use to the pressure. Don't fret over a little soreness in a finger. Just don't bend for a few days, you'll be fine Quote der Bär My YouTube
naturalstrength Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 put some windex on it LMAO In all seriousness, just take a break until you recover. There is a MAJOR difference between discomfort(the kind that goes with bending steel) and pain that persists even after the bending(the bad kind of pain, because your body is telling you to lay off for a while) Basically, you are suffering from either tendonitis, desmitis, or a combination of both. Rest and you will be 100% and bending again. Quote -Carl Ansara http://www.youtube.com/user/naturalstrength1

If I do a workout and do not finsih with contrast bath i feel all sorts of aches in my hands. Definetly an important part of a bending and/or grip workout Quote

Definetly an important part of a bending and/or grip workout Something else you might want to try; put knit gloves on or even socks over your hands while warming up to get some good heat on those tendons. I use to get bad pains in my elbows after bending. So, I cut the toes off a pair of winter socks and slide them over my elbows for warm ups. The heat made all the difference and I no longer feel pain in my elbows from bending. I've never done it for hands, but it's worth a try. Edited April 9, 2009 by easyWeight Quote der Bär My YouTube
Booyah!!! Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Lots of good replies mglassner, I believe I would also go with the contrast baths a few times or more per day and rest/dont irritate it. After the windex of course Quote I Love Bending Steel http://www.youtube.com/user/booyahbender

Darko Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Hehe, when i myself was doing yellows, i was so eager to bend that i dident really care about the tendons in the finger untill i couldnt write on my keyboard. So rest up. It really helps. Quote GOALS: Bend IM Red. Bend 1/4 X 7" CRS in single IM wrap reverse style. Get into gripping. Bend 1/4" X 7" G2 Barehanded. Bend G5s Reverse. ewokhugo Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 If this matter: first time i tried to do some iso's (crush) i hurted badly my extensors , couldnt close one #1 for weeks. ibuprofen , doesnt helped ... ice a little ... mind= a lot. after this i hurted my lower back , knee ... i never become to nervous and i thought to myself "i can fix this with streching , massages and mind ... my goal its to overcome the "fear" with my mind , thats the main reason i become interest in bending.
