mwhities Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 I bought a 1/4" zinc plated rod last night. I'll need to stop and get it cut up at my brother-in-laws house after work. I also bough a 3/16" square rod too. both will be cut tonight. (The 3/16" square rod was only a .01 (cent). I might go back and get the other 10 or 11 that was there. I found some suede(ish) material (microfiber cloth) at Home Depot last night. As you can see in this video, it worked a little, I'll need to cut it in half and use two pieces rather than one full piece. you can see it sucks trying to get it off after the bend. Video here: Bend Thanks all. Michael Quote COC Grippers: T 041409 - #1 041409 - #1.5 042709 - #2 050109 - #2.5 051409 - #3 - #3.5 - #4 Lift the Blob50. Lift 120lbs+ on 3" Crusher. (96lbs is current.) meelhama Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 mwhities, I checked out your videos. I think you could easily make a rig with heavy duty PVC (schedule 80--perhaps re-enforce it with metal). If you firmly mount the PVC, you could slip the bottom 1/4 inch of the gripper's leading handle into the PVC and simply push it to the desired set. This rig would effectively set the gripper without getting in the way of our index, middle and ring fingers. I watched a video where someone had a foot long or so bar that slipped onto the grip and allowed to close the gripper and do negatives. I guess this could be used the same way. Thanks! mwhities Posted April 27, 2009 Author Posted April 27, 2009 Where you been Mike? Everything ok? I'm here. Just had a busy weekend with the family. Haven't worked out much. Been gripping a little and my #1.5 might be in today. Hopefully. I'm waiting on a blob to come in as well. Need to pay for that before I order any wraps and crush from FBBC. mwhities Posted April 28, 2009 Author Posted April 28, 2009 (edited) Ok, finally have video of the close on the #1.5. I had stated it was easy, but it's not too easy. I'm getting worried I won't be able to get the #2 closed. It's going to be tough, but I'll get it. Hopefully I can get it in time to do the race to #2.5. Ohh, here is the video. Guest Bullitt Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 (edited) Strong close buddy! You will get the #2. That looked smooth and you were able to hold for quite some time. You could definitely do a strong penny hold with the 1.5. Give it a shot and move way up the board! Hopefully I will have a CLEAR video of a #3 close on Thursday. Great job bruddah! Let me know what you think of the blob. I want to try one so bad, but they are so dang expensive. I have been using a big block of marble to simulate, but it isn't anything like the real deal. mwhities Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 I'm hoping my #2 and blob come in today. Although, the #2 coming in tomorrow would be better. I hit the T and #1 pretty hard yesterday. Did 3X10 on the T with 2 minute rests and did 3X8 on the #1. I had forgotten my #1.5 at the house. So my hand is pretty weak right now. If it comes in, I'll try to resist the urge to squeeze it.... mwhities Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 So, I did this first video: COC #2 Close and it's not the best quailty. So I tried again: 2nd close and yet again.. didn't seem to good. So I tried again: 3rd close I don't think I closed it. My hand is wore out... BUT, I did close it earlier when I first acquired it and several times after that. I've only had two hours of sleep in the last two days (I gotta make extra money on side jobs) so in general, I'm exhausted. I'll do another video later tomorrow afternoon when I'm better rested. Watch out #2.5 race guys, I'm getting closer! (I don't think I'd close it.) Michael Quote COC Grippers: T 041409 - #1 041409 - #1.5 042709 - #2 050109 - #2.5 051409 - #3 - #3.5 - #4 Lift the Blob50. rico300zx Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Mike watch it , your doing really well i must say, however to me it seems a lot of volume. grippers are not something you do every day once or twice a week tops, just my opinion. lots of bending too. try getting a sledge hammer for you wrists so you dont dont hurt your self. check out that article jedd just posted hammering your wrists. im only saying because t have tendonitus in my left so bad i can pick up a gallon of milk for about 2 weeks now. waiting to heal really sucks. do some rubberband extensor work also that should ward of potential injury. i should listen to myself more. i got kids i guess and am used to not doin what i tell them to do rico Quote Dare to compare? gumpster Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Congrats on the #2 close! Very impressive progress you've made on the grippers (especially considering you aren't able to use a second hand to help set). I can tell you're not real happy with having to fumble around with the gripper to get a good position for the TNS closes. You may want to try using your thumb to hold the palm handle in position (either by pressing it into the palm or pushing it from behind). Another thing that may help is to turn your hand so your thumb is down while trying to get the gripper in place. I've found gravity helps just enough to make a noticeable difference. Once you get it in position you can turn your hand back over as you close it to view or video. I did this while trying to get the #2.5 closed a few months back and made a video ( ).Since you're now looking to get started on the #2.5 and beyond you may want to check into finding a choker of some sort so you don't have to fuss with the setting problem. An adjustable would be nice but I think you might do well with a simple large washer. The common adjustables are hose clamps and exhaust clamps but doing the "adjusting" may be tricky for you. A big washer with about 1 5/8" inner diameter would probably work fine and be cheap. Might need to slightly file a small notch on the inside edge to get it to fit. You should be able to get a washer on/off without too much trouble using only one hand - a medium squeeze and a little jiggle will get it on, a medium squeeze and turn the gripper upside down to get it off (I just tried it). Good luck and can't wait to see how you do on the #2.5...it's a pretty good step up from the #2. Quote Name: Perry6'4", 170lbsGoals:MMS close #3 - 11May2010...after 3yr 4mo on grippersRed/Bastard
