mashinfotrain Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 im about to buy the "ironmind-wrist-roller"-which im informed has very sharp knurling! im told that while this is ok for lighter rolling...on heaviest-rolling...it will tear up ones callouses! rather than use a roller with less sharp knurling for the very-heavy-rolling...whats wrong with useing "gloves"-for heaviest-rolls? id want these gloves to be thin as possible..so i get as near to not wearing gloves as possible....can you recommend a pair of gloves that would most replicate bare-hands...whilest giving full-protection to my callouses? i was thinking of buying "thin-(kevlar)-gloves for this! i just think...whats the point in buying another wrist-roller just for the heavier-rolling...when surely all thats needed is (gloves)? all advise will be greatly-appreciated guys? meelhama Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 If you buy through FBBC, you get a 2'', 2.5'', and a 3'' for a little more than the price of one Ironmind roller. The FBBC rollers have no knurling. Also, I've never found knurling to be a problem unless you let the roller slide through your hands during the down phase. mobsterone Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 In a word - no. Why buy something with knurl only to say it might be sharp and maybe I should wear gloves. What's the point? Buy one without - or man up. Quote Steve Gardener, British 2006/2008/2009/2010 champ, 117.5kg 2HP, Euro 2008 & 2010 champ

cptnamazin Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 An easy way to deal with knurling is to squeeze the crap out of it. Once it knows who's boss, it won't dare tear your hands up. Quote I want to be built like a brick shithouse. Like, seriously, I want people to walk up to me, newspaper in hand, and ask the bloke standing next to me, "Where's the door?"
33wes Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I'll second Mobster and others that say "man up" and deal with it. I have the floor standing unit that Tetting sells, and while the knurling is really sharp, I suppose I got used to it. Forget the gloves, you won't need them after about two weeks. Quote
mike landrich Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I say forget "dealing" with the knurling. Get raw smooth steel and squeeze that instead. My buddy has the IM and I have a piece of pipe with a piece of 5/16 CRS steel welded on for a loop. Guess which one we use more often? Quote
