Fbbc Grippers - Update

I got my first spring quote today, in the ballpark I was hoping for. Paying $400 for 4 spring prototypes (urgh! - small batches are a little bit expensive). But should have prototypes in a week. Then some serious testing to see how they hold up. If I like these, then we're a go. There will be 3 sizes under a #3, and 2 sizes between a #3 & #4 if I go with this company. They only have 2 wire sizes between the #3 & #4, so that's what I went with.

If I go with this company, I will probably do a special stamping of the prototypes (I'll have 2 each at 2 strengths). Two (the tested ones) will stay at FBBC headquarters, but the other set, I'll offer up for sale to make back some of the $400. So, only 2 pairs of the prototypes on earth for this batch. If I go with a different spring company, then those will be the only 4 on earth. Probably do some unusual handle, too, for fun.

If you go with this company, do you think it'll still be around May for the first wave to be ready?

He said 4-5 weeks, so should be mid may. Hope to have 2-3 quotes next week, also.

Awesome - everything I've gotten from you so far has been top notch, so I'm really looking forward to these!

I'll probably have certs for the gripper below the #3, and the ones between the #3 & #4. I thought about all, haven't decided on that yet.

There will be discounts, probably not quite as good as on the RB's, as I have to pay someone to make them, as I have no skills in that area. Maybe deeper someday, if we do well enough that I have to buy another lathe & have Jerry teach me how to use it, then there will be alittle more room for discounting. That's a problem I can live with, though

John,

Any update on how the cert process will go, such as set, video for proof, and new gripper out of the package, etc...?

I'll be getting the 3 of them under the #3 and possibly the one just above when they're available...

MM set, vid is fine. Don't need to be new out of the package.
