tdbas1 Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 I am hosting a small grip competiton on Sunday the 17th of May at 10am. It only has 2 events and a medley so hopefully the short notice is ok. tdbas1 Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 Brutal Hand Strength Competition Results Weights were not calibrated. Overall Placings 1st. Tom Basic, score 385 2nd. Tristan Woods, score 380.56 3rd. Karlo Briski, score 353.89 4th. Ivan zovko, score 342.22 2HP (2x20kg york plates 60mm width) 1st. Tom Basic, 75kg 2nd. Tristan Woods, 72.5kg 3rd. Karlo Briski, 65kg 3rd. Ivan zovko, 65kg 1 Hand Olympic Barbell Deadlift (Right Hand) 1st. Ivan zovko, 100kg 2nd. Tristan Woods, 95kg 2nd. Karlo Briski, 95kg 3rd. Tom Basic, 85kg 1 Hand Olympic Barbrll Deadlift (Left Hand) 1st. Tom Basic, 90kg 1st. Tristan Woods, 90kg 1st. Ivan zovko, 90kg 2nd. Karlo Briski, 85kg Medley 1st. Tom Basic, 9 items 2nd. Tristan Woods, 8 items 3rd. Karlo Briski, 7 items 4th. Ivan zovko, 5 items The competition went pretty well with all four of us having a bit of a laugh and having the final event the medley decide the final placings. First time competitor Karlo did pretty well with limited competition training maybe month or so before the comp. He has trained with weights before and did boxing for a few years a while back, thanking that for his strong wrists. Ivan was second up until the medley when he fell short on a few of the items. He did awsome on his right hand BB deadlift considering he is left handed. Tristan has spent his time training for strongman so is thanking his heavy farmers walk for his placing. He could have easily stolen it from me narrowly missing the 1'' v-bar, hub and sledge front lever in the medley. I was probably the only one who consistantly trained for this doing pinch and 1 hand deadlifts everyweek for a couple of months leading up to the comp. Probably could have trained more on the medley items but was more intent to train other things. The medley was pretty heavy and the weigths can be found previous posts. The weights were not exact as stated on the list but were within 5kg, we counted inmplement and loading pin. Most items were still too heavy anyways. tristan was the only one to lift the 2'' v-bar, whilst karlo managed the rear weaver and sledge front lever. I managed the blob. We were 2 competitors short for the comp with some late withdrawals on the day due to injuries and other reasons. Overall it ran smoothly and we all had a great feed afterwards so hopefully everyone and a few more will be happy to come next year to the Brutal Hand Strength Competition Youtube videos should be up tomorrow thanks to all who competed, my old man for the bbq and James for lending me some of his equipment. take care Tom Quote

tdbas1 Posted May 21, 2009 Author Posted May 21, 2009 Thanks guys, the judging was pretty strict but we are all first timers for that event so im sure next time it will be better. You should have seen the garage 1 week ago you could barely move in there. my dad and me spent all sat cleaning the stuff off the floor. Next years comp will have few more events and hopefully some more competitors also. Take care Tom Quote
