mobsterone Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 In the too and fro of my emails back and forth between myself and Randall these past two days (see the other thread) Randall asked 'are you competing in the European Rolling Thunder Championships? See link: http://www.ironmind.com/ironcms/morenewsv6.php?id=2845#2845 Having replied 'what competition?' I read that there is the possibility of going up against current world record holder Mark Felix (I've had the pleasure of going against the then world record holder Laine Snook) as well as winning 300 Euros (about £277.00) and a $100.00 gift certificate from Ironmind. I've emailed the organiser asking for info but the deadline is tomorrow (March 31st). Regardless of whether I am in, can afford it, etc etc the simple fact that there's a possibility of earning a few bucks again from what we do is a good thing. twig Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Can you win? If you tell me you believe you can win then I may be able to help with sponsorship. But by announcing it so late they've left it pretty tight to make it seem like a fair comp, seems a bit biased in favour of the "IM Approved" athletes to me. rico300zx Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 See that's exactly what I'm talking about every time I write something like that I get told about myself. I one hundred percent agree with you. And I'm stickin to my beliefs that that sort of nonsence is hurting the grip "world" I swear there is a conspiracy against the grip board and its members, I don't know y we spend our money there . There should have been an open invation to anyone in grip posted here a wile ago. I should fly out there at least id get second place Mobster I hope you go and win. rico300zx Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 (Don't mind my prior coments I get upset easy when I think gripboard members are not getting a fair treatment) Steve What did you say your max RT was? I think you would do great. What is the current record for the new RT? Do you think you could break it? Rico Quote Dare to compare? mobsterone Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 I've pulled in excess of the world record on an old handle. But I need to try a newer one when I'm fresh over the next couple of days to see where I am at on one of those. I don't think we're looking at a world record just yet. My best guess would be 110-120-kilos in plates. I did a little less than that after grippers, pinch and blob work earlier switching to the older handle and missing 135-kilo loaded with my right hand. Twig. If it looks good I'll give proper consideration to making the trip to Finland. But I might ask for help with the US event from a few bods rather than this one.
