AdamTGlass Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Tonight had a really strong workout. I did finger lifts up to 350 with the left middle. One hand deadlifts with a very nice 440lbs pull (NO HOOK) with the right some plate curling with a very solid 30lbs at the half way mark on the pinch lever block for three reps. I have been practicing my set with grippers. I definately feel like this is my weak link in grip. Lack of practice=lack of skill. So i am putting in time with them. Quote MM4. COC. Martin_Arildsson Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Crazy finger lift! I wouldn't dare to do them The other lift you did is called one hand lift. One hand deadlift is usually done with a barbell. Quote Dat dere YouTube
mobsterone Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Indeed. The finger lifts, mad hard, painful and dangerous (so kudos for even attempting them) merely blip the floor. But when I saw 440lbs one hand deadlift no hook grip I was about to be very jealous until I saw the lift itself. While a 200-kilo/440lbs one hand lift is ok it's not a one hand deadlift by any means. Oh and what was that apparatus for the plate curls - me like. Quote Steve Gardener, British 2006/2008/2009/2010 champ, 117.5kg 2HP, Euro 2008 & 2010 champ
lifesnotfair Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I was shocked too after reading about a 440# one hand DEADlift with no hook! That'd be insane. But I think you can do over 300 in a real one hand DL with no hook, so very few men can hang with you in that one anyways. Congrats on all those lifts! Quote

Oh and what was that apparatus for the plate curls - me like. Its a leverage block. You can get em from Ryan Pitts or just make one yourself. Awesome way to progressively train plate curls. Really helps to bridge the gap from 25's-35's-45's....plus its just a great wrist excercise in general. I do not train specifically for the one hand deadlift as seen in the hand strength Sport, so naturally i feel no obligation to play by anyone elses rules on what i call it. It is not a lift to challenge any record found here or anywhere else, it is just something i like to do to work my grip and my lats. The Pinch block can be found here pinch lever block I think Ryan can ship to the UK, but ask first. there are several sizes to choose from. It is very good for swings, curls, wrist curls, walks and other lifts where you want to challenge the thumb. Edited March 27, 2009 by SSGGLASS Quote MM4. COC. Hexbastard in every way. I had the honour of being the first to spot what you did was not a one hand deadlift but I was by no means the last. What do you call gripper closes - manhandled scissor like device crushes? You do know you're on a grip strength sport website don't you? Feel free to make up names but make them original ones you make up. Don't let others think you might be stronger than they are by claiming a 440lbs one hand deadlift because that's what you choose to call it. Hell you might as well have claimed a one hand dumbbell raise if you're gonna pick a name to use at random. Also someone else chimed in with info the what I shall now call ''what I like device''. the swiss Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Even though they might look very similar, the one hand lift and the one hand deadlift are two completely different exercises. It is possible to be very strong at one and quite weak at the other. Quote
AdamTGlass Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 Well Steve I hope you get a fruit basket because with help out a lot with your plate wrist curls. I do also like your gripper name change. On the topic of one hand deadlift, i have lifted over 300 in the suit case style DL to the side, and i can do more if i straddle the weight like a jefferson lift.
