luuc Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Take your time to let it heal, keep moving it (just to let the blood flow), and indeed, contrast baths, and maybe some medication (balm, ... no idea how all that is called in English, but you'll understand). Quote The art of barehanded bending

I'm currently doing this with my left hand. Its knuckles are tender. The gripper plus contrast baths seem to be working. Gio70 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Yes, I got hurt a tendon while overstretching the right hand after CoC sets and it did not really heal until I started using the hand with a light gripper. But I'd let a couple of weeks of rest and very light move go by before trying anything fancy, it depends on how painful it feels. After almost 2 months with improvements but no healing, I tried using a sporting gripper for many reps as warm up for the hand then tried closing HG150 (CoC T) until no pain, stopping as soon as feeling pain, then back on the lighter gripper for reps and so on, until I closed the HG with no pain. Then I let the hand rest a few days and the problem has hugely improved and is ALMOSt over but I keep going on this way increasing reps and weight just slightly. Contrast baths, finger extensions and light squeezing the hand in a deep bucket full of rice, they all helped too. Quote
thewicked Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 dude i just had to let me hand rest up for a LONG time.. my left hand got all funky after the metroflex mayhem bending section and it HURT! i'm finally able to work grippers without much issue again Quote

RICE is passive recovery; it is geared toward reducing swelling, irritation, inflamation, and pain. MEAT is proactive; sometimes you need Movement, Exercises, Analgesics (balm), and Treatment. The object is to get the blood flowing in the injured area. It is the reason some people will find "pumping" with a weak gripper helpful.
