jpmmkrahling Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I am going to make a 2 Hand Pinch apparatus. (unless someone can tell me where to buy one in the US). But what i wanted to know is: 1) what is the center section you actually grip size wise? Is it supposed to be back to back 35's or 45's? 2) What is the overall thickness of the center section? (2-1/4", 2-1/2" or 3") I have a couple different types of plates i could use. I tried looking but i can not seem to find answers for these 2 questions, so i am sorry if this is just a repeat question on this board. If there is no standard, thats fine, just say so. I just want to train the same way as everyone else for when i do attempt a grip competition Thanks in advance for your advise Quote Mike Krahling Anything worth doing is worth Over doing!!! http://www.youtube.c...michaelkrahling
climber511 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 The 2HP setup normally used is adjustable for width. Go to David Horne's website and check it out. Scott George here in the states sells an American version (in inches instead of metric). He goes by Madss on the board here. The whole purpose is to be able to fit the apparatus to your hand size for best results. You can make one yourself of course. Good Luck. crobb1320 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Everyplace that I used one it was set at 54mm.I think the standard settings are 44,54,64mm.If you look in my Gallery you can see the one I made.It is a fixed 54mm.A lot of guys train by using 2 45lb. plates and a pipe.Hope this helps. climber511 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Roughly a third of the guys at Gripmas used 48 mm. I think that as more people actually experiment with different widths - you will see more people using other widths. Going from 54 to 48 added about 20# for me. Bob Lipinski Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Along those lines Chris, I just started playing with a narrow width- I think it is 44, I don't have a good ruler- 3 big rubber sections, whatever that is. Quote US Handstrength

I could use another 20# - Aaron Quote ** Retired **
dthor Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 3 big rubber sections, whatever that is. 42mm on the Euro pinch. I have Scott George's Pinch Device, good setup. I have been using 57+mm lately. I think most Contest use Dave Horne's Euro Pinch. Quote
Adam Moyers Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 I also have Scott George's Mouse Pinch. It is a great piece of equipment. Right now 57mm is the best width for me. But I will try 48mm again soon to make sure.
