Bicep / Shoulder Injury

Recommended Posts

I only post/read two forums and this is one of the two. I know this is not neccessarily grip related, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any input....

Im looking to see if anyone else has a similar problem to mine, or knows how I can fix my problem.......

For some reason when I do axle press I end up with severe pain in my shoulders which I belive is the bicep tendon. I quit doing axle for a while and last week decided I would give it a shot again and now im back in pain again. When I clean the axle and have it racked, I am not flexible enough for it to rest on my chest/shoulders so the bar is appx 2" off my body, I think I am hurting myself on the drive portion, when the bar is coming down and I use my legs to press it.

Now just holding 135lbs in the rack position is really painful. I did some snatch work with up to 220# on the axle with no pain at all. The log does not seem to bother it as bad, but once its hurt I feel it a little on the log press too, but not as severe. Most of the pain comes with the inital drive whether I use my legs or strict press. Anyone have any diagnosis or ideas what I can do to fix this?

Thanks!

Brad

Brad - first thing is to find out for sure what the problem really is - there are a few other things in that area that could cause a very similar pain/problem. Once diagnostics have been done - you can get a better idea of how to approach therapy for it. Chris

Your right Chris, I need to go visit the doctor. Icing and rest has helped though.

If you have a competent massage therapist in the area they could let you know what it is. (Though you are going to need to take it as "advice: and not prescription as that goes outside the bounds of their credintials legally speaking.) I have a massage therapist friend that will "feel around" the few times I have hurt anything and give me the "yep that's your such and such..." then all you have to do is look up what the muscles action is (if you don't already know it... perks of being a doctors kid I suppose) and stretch it/rehab it and figure out what you are doing biomechanically wrong. Everyones body is different, some people will be more naturally prone to injury from certain motions. But if this is a new injury and cleans feel good/natural to you it could just be you did something to aggrivate it and the clean & press simply brought it to light.

I hope you get well soon.

And seeing a Doc is always a good idea.
