luuc Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 1/4" CRS, to 55 degrees barehanded, then finished with one piece of toilet-paper on each end. Took 3 minutes. 1/4" HRS, barehanded in 9s. 6" 5/16 G2, DO in single leather wraps in 20s. (wraps are ±18mm in thickness) 1/4" CRS, same story as the first one, only a little faster. 6,5mm by 7,5" nail, DU in single leather wraps in 1 minute. Some reverse and DU attempts on a G5 in single leathers, all failed miserably. 1/4" HRS, barehanded in a few seconds. All of the 1/4" pieces I try to bend barehanded are 7" long. I think the toilet paper is just a mental issue; doesn't really provide a lot of protection. My DU and reverse power really suck since I've done any of those styles, time for change. wscorpion Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Nice! Quote Mark Vogels -------------------- "Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right."
luuc Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 Thank you Mark. Took another shot at the Edgin... Failed. Little better than last time though. 1/4" HRS, barehanded in 10s 1/4" HRS, barehanded in 20s (no break between bends) 1/4" G2 in 1 napkin, took pretty long.. about 7 minutes. I wasn't able to bend it like Stump, I couldn't get the kink barehanded as far as he did, so respect++ for Stump! 1/4" HRS 1/4" HRS 1/4" HRS All three within 1 minute and barehanded. All barehanded bends are crushed down to the max by the way; with the HRS it's 4-5mm between the legs, the G2 only to 8mm. Hands are trashed, lovely. Quote The art of barehanded bending
bencrush Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Nice work man! Sounds like you'll nail the 1/4"X7" CRS soon. Quote
ewokhugo Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 i like the title a lot Luuc! training the mind its the key! power breathing may helps (bruce lee style)but i am not sure; never did barehanded. how is the Edgin now? i think last time was around 10 cm betwen the legs..:-) Quote Hugo Sá e Castro 33, 6"0", 200 lbs.
luuc Posted March 16, 2009 Author Posted March 16, 2009 Nice work man! Sounds like you'll nail the 1/4"X7" CRS soon. Thanks! I'm struggling with it for a while now, but it shouldn't take long anymore.. i like the title a lot Luuc!training the mind its the key! power breathing may helps (bruce lee style)but i am not sure; never did barehanded. how is the Edgin now? i think last time was around 10 cm betwen the legs..:-) Thanks Hugo, it's at 9,5cm now... But it did go a little easier than last time. I have a book of Pavel that's also about power breathing, I'll give it a try! Quote The art of barehanded bending
ewokhugo Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Hi Luuc! yes its in pavel's book! it may be used to bend any style(sometimes i try to use it but i am not sure if i am doing it properly):-) Quote Hugo Sá e Castro 33, 6"0", 200 lbs.
luuc Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 (edited) 1/4" HRS 4 of these in a row in 55s. 7,5" * 5/16" HRS David Ostlund Style, DU (to 90 degrees, finished DO) with a pair of IM wraps folded around each end. 7,5" * 5/16" HRS DU to 30 degrees, reverse to 50 degrees and finished DO, I used 1 piece of 10" * 4" leather, and rolled it around the bar (making it a 15mm wrap) 1/4" CRS in 15s with 2 pieces of toiletpaper on each end. 1/4" CRS in 30s with 1 piece of toiletpaper on each end. ewokhugo Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 interesting the toilet paper idea ..must give it a try !!! .. good work with the David O style!!! Quote Hugo Sá e Castro 33, 6"0", 200 lbs.
bencrush Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Have you tried bending with the 2"X2" pads like some of us on the boards were doing every once in a while? David Horne has a cert for it. It helped my thin-pad bending just because you've got to get the hands used to the awkward positions that the lack of pads puts them in. I've kinked the last few Bastards that I've tried with the tiny pads. Quote
ewokhugo Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 interesting Idea Ben ! thanks for sharing. Quote Hugo Sá e Castro 33, 6"0", 200 lbs.
luuc Posted March 19, 2009 Author Posted March 19, 2009 (edited) 7,5" * 5/16" HRS, in 3 minutes in 3 layers of toiletpaper on each end. Hurt like hell. 1.4" CRS, in 12s in 2 layers of toiletpaper on each end. 1/4" CRS, in 25s in 1 layer of toiletpaper on each end. The 5/16" bar doesn't hurt as much as 1/4" stuff, so that's nice to know! Thanks for the support guys, really appreciate it! Ben, Next time I order steel from FBBC I'll get myself a pair of those, thanks for the idea! A little song to end the fun: Edited March 19, 2009 by luuc Quote The art of barehanded bending
ewokhugo Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 thanks for sharing the link(youtube!) Luuc! hard work will get a reward soon!!! no pain no gain ... do u know if its possible to download these songs and put them in my mp3? Quote Hugo Sá e Castro 33, 6"0", 200 lbs.
luuc Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 7,5" * 5/16" HRS, in 15 minutes with 2 layers of toiletpaper on each end. Tried some more bends; Ostlund, reverse, ... But I didn't have the right steel (too light or way too strong). Once you start slowing down with a barehanded bend, there's no turning back and going faster again... at least, not for me, that's something I have to work on. As punishment for this weak performance: 7,5" * 5/16" HRS, in 2 minutes with 3 layers of toiletpaper on each end. ewokhugo Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 very impressive Luuc! awesome !!! waw! ever tried with one bandhana? its more addictive barehanded than with im/suede wraps? Quote Hugo Sá e Castro 33, 6"0", 200 lbs.
gazza Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Keep it going Mate your doing great. Quote "There he goes. One of gods own prototypes. A high powered mutant of some kind never ever considered for mass production.Too weird to live and too rare to die."
luuc Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 Thanks Hugo, I'll try it some day. Barehanded bending is way more addicting than any other style to me, it's much more fun and challenging! Thank you Gazza!! Today: Kinked a Red in IM pads. (baby-kink) Finished of a 6,5" * 5/16" piece of CRS in IM pads (had a baby-kink in it) Took 5 minutes before it died. ewokhugo Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 glad to know it Luuc! are u going for the red nail cert this year? will u do it barehanded?? (jk) :-))) Quote Hugo Sá e Castro 33, 6"0", 200 lbs.
luuc Posted March 29, 2009 Author Posted March 29, 2009 (edited) 1/4" CRS, barehanded in 10 minutes. 5/16" HRS, in 'Ostlund pads', first 30 degrees DU, then DO. Tried 1/4" * 7,5" Stainless, but even in Ostlund wraps it's too hard for me, kinked it to 5 degrees. Bend it in single peather wraps till there was a 7cm gap between the ends, and crushed it down to 4cm barehanded. 5/16" * 5" Square HRS, took me 5 minutes to get it to almost 90 degrees, then it froze.. Tricky length. Hugo, I'll try to do it barehanded, but I think I'll have to do it in 2010 or 2011. Edited March 29, 2009 by luuc Quote The art of barehanded bending
ewokhugo Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 waw! u would be the first to do it Luuc! best of luck!:-) Quote Hugo Sá e Castro 33, 6"0", 200 lbs.
luuc Posted April 2, 2009 Author Posted April 2, 2009 The following weeks at school will be busy, so I'll really try to train but it's not always possible. 1/4" * 6,5" CRS, barehanded to 25 degrees, then finished with 2 pieces of toiletpaper on each end, in 7 minutes. 1/4" * 7" Stainless, in 4" by 4" leather wraps, no bands or chalk. (Like Gazza did to a 4" Shiny ) Took me 15 minutes. 1/4" * 7,5" Stainless, same style, now in 2 minutes. Quote The art of barehanded bending
