foxyj75 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I did some DO last night, and it went a whole lot better than last time. I warmed up real good, and just took it slow to get back in my groove. Smoked a tough 5/16'' x 6'' G2 like a paperclip, then went for a Huge Shiny.....and SMOKED it!! I didn't try to hurry, and just felt my way back into my old groove. Once I did, it just melted. Crush was crazy easy, and I was glad to see that it was still there. I used new wraps, so that changed it up a bit as well. Kinda nice actually. My old ones are so incredibly smoked that they were bordering on useless. My new ones are 6'' long; kinda weird at first, but I don't have to constantly readjust them every other hit either. I just move my hands on the wraps instead. Did a little braced too, I smoked an 8'' Menards crescent wrench(feels like a doable Companion), and one of Tim I's 12'' spikes....which was INSANELY HARD!! :blink Felt almost as hard as a hard, dark, 10'' FBBC spike. Speaking of Tim I's steel, Tim, what in the world is that stainless that you sent me? It feels twice as hard as a shiny of the same length! I wobbled a 6'' pretty good, but that was it. CaptainCrush Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Great to hear you are back to the good old DO brotha!! Oh yeah the words "crazy easy" referring to the huge shiny is just wrong Incredible! Quote
Tim71 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Great job on some awesome bends! What kind of 12 inch spike is it that feels that hard? Same diminsions? Neat stuff. Tim Quote
MalachiMcMullen Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Fox, I have 3 7" pieces of Tim I's stainless. That stuff is bat-shit crazy for stainless. I took one to 2 1/8 months ago, it sits at 2 1/64(I'm not kidding, measured with a caliper). The damned thing seems to flex and flex and flex. Of all the stuff I've done, I'll be the proudest of that once I finish it. Quote Zach Coulter Goals #1- The Planche

Steel vary a lot even the stainless:-) actually u were not out of shape last time maybe lack of "groove" but the power remains the same :-) crushdown easier now? because the squats u did to the death? I've done about a dozen different kinds but that one hasn't come my way. Love to try an 8 incher though. Tim Quote
timiacobucci Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Nice work on that huge shiny man. I gotta order some more from FBBC soon, I have to get to work on them. As you guys have mentioned, the stainless I have is still a big jump for me. As for the spikes, well I was just waiting to see what you thought of them Fox. They are, get ready for this, Griprite. No kidding, I went to grab some more from home depot and there were these new ones, in the same griprite box, even a few of the older galvanized easy ones mixed in there. Well I didn't think much of it till I went to bend one. Easily up there with the tree island one that I got from Tim T. I don't know if it's a freak box, but it would be cool if griprite has changed manufacturing techniques or steel suppliers and this will be the new norm for that brand. The stainless is 303 from a local Alro steel supplier I get allot of my stock from. I can order more for a decent price pretty much any time, and it is consistantly brutal. The best I have done is 7.5" and that was over a few days. Quote

Tim71 Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Tim, Doesn't really suprise me about the spikes. Toughest 80ds I have are a freak batch of galvanized griprites that cal'd at a whopping 645 lbs. I only have 3 or 4 left and I've never run into them again. Where these 12 inchers galvanized too? If so take a look at this pic and see if it looks the same only longer: griprite 80d I still say that freak 10 incher I sent to you though could be the toughest spike inch for inch. That's the same type as the one I bent on the vid for you and it's much tougher than many 80ds. Later, Tim Quote
