AdamTGlass Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I do not currently own a competition legal 2" v bar, but i do pull 2" v's with my 2" loading pin. How close would a given weight be from the conversation of loading pin to V bar? All opinions are appreciated, thanks in advance Quote MM4. COC. Hexbastard in every way. Red Nail Roster.
MalachiMcMullen Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 (edited) As far as I know, Olympic loading pins are slightly smaller than 2", and from the ones that I've tried, the loading pins are much easier. That being said, the difference for me was only 10-30lbs(pulling more on the loading pins) and the +30 lift was on a pin that might as well be knurled it's so corroded. Then again, I totally stink at Vbar. My best ever on my FBBC is 215ish, I pulled about 235 on that p.o.s. loading pin once and never got over 220 again Oh Vbar, thou dost annoy me greatly. bencrush Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I had an Ironmind loading pin that I used before making my own 2" vbar and it was only about 20-30lbs away from what I pulled on the actual FBBC 2" vbar soon afterwards. Quote
Bob Lipinski Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Adam- If you want something close to a vbar, buy some threaded pipe and something to screw on the end. Costs $10, very very easy to do. Quote US Handstrength
jad Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 (edited) In my experience, 20-30# if you go from the ground and grip as high as you can. If you set it up on a stack of weights to make sure the top of the pin is 24" high and still grip as high as you can, the loading pin becomes about 30 or more pounds HARDER. Texture is huge though and this assumes your pin and the bar you compete on are the same or pretty close. Edited March 13, 2009 by jad Quote Proud member of the Feat Cheaters Club! barbe705 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I think it will depend on how crusty the pin is. what I use is smooth as glass and I clean it before each workout. most v-bars I've pulled on are season a lot better than that. that and the height are what will make the difference. stew2 Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 When I do them it's on my homade loading pin it's pretty slick finish and is 19" tall drops my weight about 103 to 25# depending on whose bar I'm using, how crusty it is,and what the humidity is out. Bob Could you send me a picture of this set up? Also what is the contest legal size for a 2" V? We use the FBBC Vbars in the states. His 2" versions are 24" tall and 2.0" thick. I don't have one in front of me, but I believe there is an 8-10ish inch unpainted surface for the gripping surface. Quote Zach Coulter Goals #1- The Planche
rico300zx Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I don't have one but I thought the unpainted surface was 6"? In a comp how far are you allowed to grab down on the 24"? Quote Dare to compare? Bob Lipinski Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Damn, sorry I didn't see this Adam. Here is a picture of my setup: http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?autocom...si&img=8636 2" OD (outside diameter, I think it is actually 1.9 or something), 2 feet long threaded at one end. I bought a pipe couple to a bigger pipe as the bottom plate, you can buy a flange (it is flat), but it will be $5+ more. Just screw on. I have zero handyman skills, learned most of what I know making easy grip stuff. Quote US Handstrength
jpmmkrahling Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 I just noticed on FBBC's site that the top 7" is left unpainted. Quote Mike Krahling Anything worth doing is worth Over doing!!! http://www.youtube.c...michaelkrahling
