That's some serious pulling Adam!!! Holy cow! I don't think you have much to worry about in the Vbar department either. You'll pull 270+ for sure on an FBBC bar the way that 295 came up. You're nearing Jedd's best comp pull(at least the ones I know of) with that axle pull ;)

You still considering going to Larkin's for the Michigan contest?

Are those strict Plate wrist curl? :blink

Impressive stuff there Adam! :rock The plate curls get my curiosity going. Can you do wrist curls with the 35lb plate? How much can you curl with a regular dumbbell? It seems like one would need to be able to curl whole lot more than 35lbs (assuming the wrist was strong enough). The biggest plate I have is only 20lbs and I can do 10reps wrist curling but only about 5 plate curls. My weak bicep is the limiting factor with plate curls. I can't do even one rep with 35lbs on a dumbbell. :blush

I can plate wrist curl a 35, but i do not do it often. It is massive load to the tendons and i already do a lot of tendon work every week.

Because of leverage, it is a hugely different lift. Curling a 25lbs plate strictly stops 95% of the human population in their tracks. A 35 stops a lot of very strong men, There are a good amount of guys here who can do it, but go to your local gym and ask the biggest guys there to strictly curl a 35, i will bet its not happening unless you go to a gym where a lot of Strongman competitiors lift or grip is known and trained. . A lot of points of failure- the thumb needs to be strong to clamp the plate, wrist strong to keep it straight, fingers strong to support the plate. And of course the biceps must be able to lift the weight.

I am still waiting to see anyone curl a 45lbs plate strictly. I have looked and looked for pics or videos. I am very close now.

Yeah, I agree that a plate curl and plate wrist curl are very different. One is static (plate curl) and one is dynamic (plate wrist curl) as far as the wrist goes.

The only things I've seen that were close are John Eaton's 2-25s plate curl video on youtube (not completely strict but damn impressive) and a pic of David Erives curling a 45 in the cyberpump gallery (pic here). It's hard to tell how strict it was done in that pic but he used to compete in grip comps and was known to be freakishly strong so I don't doubt it. On a side note, that pic looks like something out of the 70s...wonder what year that was? :tongue

Getting that 45 plate curl would be incredible - good luck!

Awesome lifts Adam!!!!

Have you ever tried clamping a 10 or 5 in various places on a 35 to adjust leverage and work towards a 45?

What's up with the tiny Axle? How do you plan on adding more weight? Haha :D

If you have ever seen the pinch lever blocks from strongergrip- they are very good for training the plate curl. I use them but i am making something new to do exactly what you have listed here. basically a clamp with a horn that will go on to the end of the plate. That way i get used to the pain of the rim from a normal plate.

My tiny axle bar! I know i need a real sized one. I got that piece of stock from a junk yard. I have some really thin 50's that are less than an inch thick that will allow me to load past what i can pull. I need more specialization to break past 405 with that.

Keep it up Adam. That 45 plate curl will really be something and I want to see you do it before the year ends.

"It would be simpler if they had two classes: open and handicapped. If you’re under 200 pounds, under 18 years old, over 50 years old, female, retarded, or missing any limbs, you have the option to compete in the handicapped class. Otherwise you lift in the open class."
