ewokhugo Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 i realize some benders dont bother about to get any bending cert ... maybe they tried in the past and for some reason failed(Zach once tried the bastard cert and the camera went out of control or something) ... Doug is a great bender (hexabastard, shiny maybe more), Caolan(mag shiny), Joonas(8.5 mm crs VERY close to bend the shiny, already did it?) ... just to name a few ...these guys dont ask for any fbbc cert ... others have some old fbbc cert ... David is a good example(he can bend one shiny in im wraps(maybe more thats right?)and he's big/grand bastard ONLY .. Derek the same ... Josh (only a shiny, and he can do much more) ... Luuc is much ahead of the bastard level (his cert name)... there are a lot of more ... as a matter of fact this week i bend the bastard quickly(for me 60 sec its very good) but because i was very nervous(i had to do it quickly because the batery was almost in end i put the bar at 2 1/8 " betwen the legs and only realize it when i arrived home ... i came to this conclusion: should i stay more relaxed and just bend the steel without worrying to much about to get it under 5 mn? i wish my answer would be yes ...but its no. i think i need to prove something to myself(i can get one ..more bending titles)and have interest to let people know my level of bending(even if u dont get any bending cert this doesnt mean people dont know it because i post videos etc ..whateaver). For me this may be true: in the beggining there are some explosion inside us ,(desire to get bending titles), but later when we get more mature and bend bigger steel it doesnt matter much ... your thoughts ? cberg Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 haha Hugo I think you mean huge shiny for me I am nowhere near the mag . Im gonna cert on the huge when I can get it under 5 mins. Should be very soon! Quote Caolan Berg age: 21 height: 5'8 weight: 200
CaptainCrush Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 The MOAB is really the only cert that I will be going for in the upcoming years. I kinda lost interest for certs for the time being. Quote
MalachiMcMullen Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I would cert on more stuff, but my camera is such an incredible pain to work with. I only have about 5:20 total recording time and the batterys don't even last that long unless they are brand new. Other times my camera just shuts off. Other times I screw something up on the camera. Gawd. I'm getting mad at my camera right now just thinking about it. Quote Zach Coulter Goals #1- The Planche
David_wigren Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I have more than a few bends that I have done that is up on youtube. Should be cert quality on them aswell. I don't really know why I don't bother to send them in. The certs themselves just don't mean that much to me anymore. It's all about getting stronger and getting better, I don't need certs to keep track of that so I usually don't bother. And I put videos up pretty much for the reason to prove what I've done and to share it with others. It's also to keep track of what I did and when I did it. Something I can go back and watch for personal motivation if my strength is down, wich it is right now in some areas of bending and grip. Quote
TKtheGreek Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 the only cert i ever cared about was the ironmind rednail. I Dont know why I just dont care at all about fbbc certs or any other list for that matter Quote
bencrush Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I enjoyed the certs but stopped sending in for them partly out of boredom. There's not a lot that I haven't made official though with a video sent to John or the word of a witness. Mag Shiny and 5.5" Edgin have both gone inside 5 minutes. Should've added those, but at the time I figured there would be many more to come. Quote
tja Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I'm sure the other guys will start certing when they hit their goals This is one reason. And then I'm just a bit lazy Quote

Jedd Johnson Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Just seems like there is no time to bother with the certs unless they are done at a contest, for me. yodajaeger Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 (edited) No, not really, I've sent in a couple of certs, but never got on the list so I lost the interest. Also, up until now, the IM cert has been my focus, and if I continue bending and get to the next hallmark, let's say a shiny, well then perhaps I will cert, but otherwise I don't really mind that much. gumpster Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I like the fact that John has certs - it's another thing that motivates me. I'd do more but I'm just not strong enough. It's a good thing there are some below the bastard or I'd have nothing. I figure if someone bends some FBBC stock and goes through the trouble to video/upload/make a post about it...the hard part is done. Sending an email to John only takes a minute. There are still a bunch of bends that have nobody or only 1 on the list (especially in DU & reverse). CaptainCrush Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Just bent a Speedy Metals 11/32 0-1 Drillrod in 1 minute 5 seconds. I wouldn't mind if someone started up a drillrod cert list. There are tons of variety for everybody on this site. I love how the stuff ramps up around 90 degrees too! Quote

There are tons of variety for everybody on this site. I love how the stuff ramps up around 90 degrees too! Are you kidding me? Would you just cert on the 665 KOAB already?! It'll be NO problem Thanks brotha! Yeah I know it's been far too long since I've been able to bend the thing. I would of liked to bend this thing at a contest in front of a bunch of grip guys since I will be only the 4th person to ever certify on it. I'd probably be able to put the BKOAB to 2 inches but since I only have one 665lb KOAB left I don't wanna chance it and end up failing. My family is having a get together tomorrow maybe I'll do it then. I would definitely have the rage since most of my family thinks I'm nuts and am wasting my time with all this bending stuff. Quote

There are tons of variety for everybody on this site. I love how the stuff ramps up around 90 degrees too! Very nice. I bent one of the 11/32 0-1 from Fastenal and it was a really fun bend. It definitely loaded up as I went. You should have no trouble with the 665 KOAB. After I bent the 11/32 DrillRod I was able to put a bit of a kink in the newest KOAB stock with 1 hit. Quote
