Anyone heard how Paul and Rex did at the

Grip Gauntlet at the Arnold Classic this weekend?

Can't wait to hear if Paul completed all the events.

Paul and Rex??? Never heard of them! ;););););) They sound like newbies so my guess is the may have lifted the 10 pound blob at best, maybe even closed a Sports Authority gripper-maybe ;) I am sure they probably did great, but I am interested to find out too :D

Not to steal this thread but I went through it and failed the blob was my first attempt I thought I could lift it but it was slick as snot even with chalk. The new RT feels great.

The first and only time I stopped in at the Grip Gauntlet, a few years back, I saw Handgripperman there. He did all 3 things like it was no problem then walked away: Blob, #3, Rolling Thunder (forgot what the weight was). I was new to the Gripboard and had no appreciation at all to what he was doing. Next time I see something like that it will be appreciated :rock

Done:

- Close #2 COC

- Hold two 45 Hamptons with Hub Grip to full extension, simultaneously both sides

- Hub grip 45 Hampton with 10 extra pounds ( 4 - 2 1/2s) on each hand to full extension

-Hub grip 60#

-Pinch grip two 25s on each hand to full extension

Goals:

-Get thumb pad a lot bigger

-Close #2.5 COC

-Close #3 COC

-Wrist Wrench #100

-FBBC 2.5 Crusher #170

-pinch two 35s one hand to full extension

Me:

-Height: 5' 10"

-Weight: 184 lbs

-BP 102/60

-Pulse 60

-Hand size: 7 7/8"

After armwrestling I went over there to check it out and ended up giving it a try. I came a damn hair away from closing the #3 and felt good with the RT but couldn't clear the ground with it. That new handle is a biotch! Ditto what Bill said, the blob was very slick...not that I would have gotten it anyway. LOL

Anyone know what the weight was for the New Rolling Thunder at The Arnold?

It was 167 at the Fit Expo in January.

Anyone try the concrete shot put balls at the "Con Cret" booth? The 23 lb "man" ball and the 34 lb "strongman" ball?

Mike - Wade said he started it out at 212# - then lowered it to 207# early the first day (it was 207# when Jedd and I got there around 11 AM) - where I think they kept it. Rex told me the concrete balls were there but I never saw them.

I never saw the concrete balls either. The RT was 207lbs when I was there also. Seen Jedd there when I got to the guantlet. Suppose I seen you also Climber511. I was the short bald guy with the harley davidson sweat shirt on

I'm not positive how this goes but there are new handles and new(er) handles evidently. I saw Wade lift the 207 several times while I was there. I saw a few non grip guys lift it as well. It seems like this handle, while harder is not as hard as the first new version that was discussed earlier. And this info may not be just right - maybe Wade will chime in at some point to explain the RT progressions or whatever it may be called since the older version changed.

I saw Wade hit the 207 a couple times when I first got to the gauntlet, so he must have been training lately.

I went through the grip gauntlet twice. The first time I was able to get the blob up righty and transfer it to my right. I then closed the three with a parallel pause. I broke the rolling thunder off the ground a couple inches maybe at best but it was just a bit too tough for me to lock out. I'd estimate the current version of the RT took off about 20 lbs for me, which means training with my incredi-hard mannino handle has paid off for me.

The second time, I also got the blob and the three and couldn't even get the RT off the ground. I was just too spent from playing with my blobs in the park with the guys.

The weekend was great. I had a great time standing and talking with Wade, Richard, Tex, Rich, Bert, House, Bill Long, Kevin Cronin, Andrew Durniat, Doc, Stew, Nick, Climber, Paul and Rex at the Gauntlet. This is really the only reason I went to the Arnold this year.

The feats in the park and at Doc's were something to behold as well! Thanks for having us over, Doc!

The Arnold was fun.

I did the #3 and blob no problem, 1st attempt, but could not do anything with the RT (set at 207 pounds with new handle). I also couldn't do anything with the Inch they had at some other booth.

I didn't do anything at Sean's the night before I tried the Gauntlet, because I was still wiped out from the high-rep Crusher work I did on Wednesday at Eric's. I don't know if I would have gotten the RT with my hands fresh. Honestly, I didn't care all that much because my main focus is Chad's comp right now, and so I wasn't going to go light on a training day at Eric's just to "peak" for the Gauntlet. I'm bound to get all 3 events one day, so I'll just keep getting stronger until that day comes.

Big congrats to Andrew D. and Rich Williams for completing the Gauntlet in the hard format. From what I hear, Rich did an extreme high-pull with the RT, bringing the handle up to nearly chest height. Rich also certed on the 3.5, I believe. Paul and Brian Shaw both attempted the 3.5 but missed it. Paul will get it soon enough if he just learns to stop training the night before a cert!

It was good to see everyone at the Arnold (Chris, Sean, Jedd, etc.). The Arnold isn't really my scene (way too crowded), but it was worth attending and I can see myself going again one day.

"It would be simpler if they had two classes: open and handicapped. If you’re under 200 pounds, under 18 years old, over 50 years old, female, retarded, or missing any limbs, you have the option to compete in the handicapped class. Otherwise you lift in the open class."

I agree I am sure I seen more people then that but figured I had seen you when you said you was with Jedd. Wasn't sure who you was until I looked at a picture in your profile. Maybe next comp!

My thinking right now is identical. No letting up so as to be ready for displays. If it comes to it I'll 'train' while doing a show (I maybe down for one in Easter).

HA go figure Nick maybe we do need to make some grip board t-shirts so we can stop people and meet them. Since we all don't' get to go to the same contests.

No I didn't get to do it I was in a rush to get around the booths as I only had about a half a day to see it all. Big Steve did the 135lb twice and then the guy started throwing new rules at him and he stopped there. Was you there this year Zach??
