matthcarl Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 (edited) So the new Fastenal store opened, no more than two miles from where I live. I stopped in and was like a kid in the candy store! They don't have a huge selection of stuff in stock, but they did have a lot of what I wanted. I picked up 5/16" drillrod and 304 stainless, as well as 3/8" brass and 1/2" aluminum. I couldn't contain myself...I'm on lunch break from work right now, but I bent a 7.5" long piece of drillrod. It didn't put up much of a fight. I also did a 7" piece of the brass...felt the same as the Golden bastard. I think I'm good for 6.5" on both of those, and I definitely want a crack at the 304 stainless tomorrow. And the aluminum, if only because it's so fat and looks cool when bent. Edit - Yes, I realize I misspelled the topic title, and can't edit it. matthcarl Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 And to top off my day, I got a package from Switzerland...tja kindly sent me some odd stuff. I bent a piece of 8mm rebar...not too bad, but a lot harder than I expected based on his description that it would be good for DU and reverse practice Maybe for you, buddy.... I also bent a piece of what I believe is 10mm square aluminum. weird stuff. It bent all on the flat, but crushed down very easily. It gets white where the metal is stressed. Looks like a marshmallow Quote Name: Matt Carl Runner, Graphomaniac, Steel Bending Fiend

Fun stuff, weird feel to it compared to steel. Actually, I just realized that the rebar I sent you was probably of a harder batch. I bought it in 2m pieces, several lengths at several occasions. The older ones I said are good for reverse practice were a tad easier, the new ones - I just barely got one reversed over two sessions. They looked quite alike, sorry about that buddy. Quote
