foxyj75 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Anybody know what brand the 70d's Menards sells are? They're in a blue "Midwest Packaging" box, but that's not the brand. They say they're made in Canada though. TOUGH suckers. At least as hard as a Bastard. Also, has anyone tried any of their 8'' adj. wrenches? Cheap(.99!), don't break, and feel like a doable Companion. These will be my new show wrench. Just curious, any help is greatly appreciated. -Foxy<>< Quote Phil. 4:13 Psychotic bending, shiny-headed Jesus freak......and proud of it!! My Videos
Tim71 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Ahhh yes, the Canadian 70ds. Those are one of my all time favorite bends. Look great for shows and if you notice they look strikingly like Tree Island spikes only smaller. Did have the .99 cent wrenches last time I was there. I did get a blue handle wrench that was 3 or 4 dollars and it was one of the hardest 8 inchers I've ever did even to this day. Was probably a couple years ago. I love Menards but the closest one to me is probably 1.5 hours away and there's not much else there so I don't get there very often. I need some more of the 70ds though so I'll have to go back. The 70ds in the 50# box are chinese and a little thinner and cal'd at 295. The tough Canadian ones hit 415. I'll have to try the 99 cent wrenches though. Did they have all sizes? Later buddy! Tim Tim, I was mistaken on the price; the 8''ers were 2.99 each, not 0.99! I picked up 8 more tonight. I did notice that out of the 2 I picked up earlier, one was a little bit thicker, but was still doable(with a little persuasion from the floor and a sledge to help me through a sticking point! ) But, it was still doable, unlike the Companions which seem to be either perfect or impossible. I tried to pick the thinner ones out of the bin this time. I have a show coming up this month, and want to do a wrench bend, so these will work well. They did have 10''ers also, but that's all I saw. I thought about trying one of those, but I'll wait till I can smoke the 8''ers easy to try that. I wonder the brand of those Canadian 70d's? How many major nail manufacturers could Canada have? Sivaco maybe? In any case, I LOVE those nails! They look awesome when bent, much burlier than a 60d. I'll do a few in my next show. Thanks Tim! AdamTGlass Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I got a 50lbs box of them, nice spikes. I agree with you, they feel as least as tough as most 7"X 5/16" CRS. I don't think buying them from Menards will be your best price on them as the prices i see here are marked up. Quote MM4. COC. Hexbastard in every way. Red Nail Roster.

If I could find em' cheaper though, I would go that route!! Quote Phil. 4:13 Psychotic bending, shiny-headed Jesus freak......and proud of it!! My Videos
Tim71 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Here's the pic of when I bent that 8 incher: Wrenches As I recall, the one I did in the pic was much tougher then the companions I had done up to that point. However, I just realized that it was almost 2 years ago since I've bent one and at the time, my best 8 inch bend was the griprite 80d so my view of them is probably a little off. Good looking wrench though with the handle cut off. I love those 70ds as well. Does your look like the left one in this pic? Nails Later, Tim Quote
bencrush Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I've bent some of those awesome hard 70Ds that various guys have sent me. I think they're the most impressive-looking bend at 7". Well at least most impressive that I'm capable of. I had more requests for bent 7inchers than bent 5inchers, go figure. Quote
nickr104 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I have some of those 70ds as well. Got to be carefull since they are so sharp on the ends. I agree they feel about like 7" X 5/16" CRS. Quote Nick RosendaulI am a Upser"I slept with John Eaton and lived to tell about it!"
