Blackdog Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Went to Play it again Sports and found tons of old York 45's all rusted with nice patina. The hubs were 5"!!! I didn't realize Yorks were that big. Maybe these were odd ones. Found a old Standard that was 4 1/4in and bought it for $26 bucks. What do you guys think? Is this too big for hubbing? Any thoughts? I am hitting 37# at the moment on some newer Standards. I am not sure what the diameter is. Will measure tonight. So there is dumb and dumber, I'm in the ladder.... Just measured some of my original Standard 45 plates and they are 3 1/2in hubs!!!! I guess seeing those old York's, which I have never seen before, threw me off. Anyway I needed an extra 45 for other reasons anyway. You live in and learn as they say..... Question: When you guys get together and have comps what is the diameter of the hub that is usually used? matthcarl Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I don't have any plates to hub myself, but I have lifted both Hampton plates and Fitness Gear (Dick's brand, I think) and both of them had about a 3" hub, is my guess. I have an IM hub device that measures 3" across and 1" deep. I don't think I could hub a plate with a 4"+ hub, but it would be a pretty nice feat if you can get it.
