foxyj75 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 yea its a timber tie (3/16) verse a 60D (1/4). gj man It's a 60D Griprite Spiral Nice bend! Stump, those 60d spiral Griprites are also called timber ties. Just for comparison, the cal numbers for each are as follows: Timber tie-- @190lbs Reg. 60d -- @300lbs avg. Reg. 60's are sometimes called "bright common 60d", "cement coated", or "galvanized". The shaft of the nail is smooth, and not rippled or spiralled. FYI, just so you know! Congrats on a good bend! Tim71 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Just to confuse, I've had 3 distinctly different types of the spiral griprite timber ties. First ones probably only hit around 130 lbs and made a big wide "U" bend. I keep those for my son to bend. They came in a green and yellow 5 pound box. Another 5 pound box yielded some that had a crazy hard kink for timber ties and they broke like they were brittle. And the third of course is the 195 pounders like Fox said. They're good stuff. Great job on that bend! Tim Quote
