well yesterday i give it a try : bastard, the only one i had.

i felt confortable last week bending one red nail(average like Mike said) and this time i had one average bastard as well.

during the day i was felling sick , very nervous ... i know this happend when something bad may happend ...

i put the camera and i started ... shaking a lot ... initial kink not bad but i had to bend my back ... up to 120 deg ... then i started PUNCHING myself like a dumb ...whats going on i said to myself?

i gas out ... because i was to nervous my left hand lost strenght , i couldnt squeeze properly ...2 minutes more...it past 90deg ... 75 deg and i was dead ...end of story!

few minutes rest and i finish the bar to under 2".

i must LEARN to overcome the fear and to start to HAVE fun again. climbing the hill to fast can be danger when the lack of confidence and FEAR are still there!

just to share my thoughts. i liked the bastard challenge though ... its a great piece of steel! untill next time bastard!!

your thoughts...thanks.

Ive only bent a couple reds before, but from my experience, bastards are definitely harder.

I think you are giving the steel too much credit though. Its just a piece of steel. Now go out and destroy it.

thanks caolan!

i like to respect the steel , i feel good this way ... but i need to be more agressive again and have fun.

The steel does not deserve your respect. It is weak. Just pick it up and bend it.

That's still pretty good Hugo. The bastards have been harder than the reds lately.

Have respect for the steel but don't be afraid of it. Never hesitate while hitting it

The point is you did finish it, so you know you can do it. The next one will be easier, I am sure :cool

Matt: yes i agree, but one thing i realize: must work on my endurance and start to do some exercices: i am not doing anything except bending steel.

my conclusion: i was nervous because i was not prepared for this challenge.

should have done more bends using 8 mm crs (eventually cutting it to 6 "or 5.5" like Mark said). i shouldnt have respected the DAMM steel so much because i lost the battle in the beggining(no "faith" ..."the steel was strong than me") thats my weakness. no more respect the killing attitude will rule again!!

thanks for the positive words.

Don't sweat it Hugo, the current bastards(480#) are pretty much as hard as a shiny. In any case, if it wasn't one of the current ones, they're still harder than a red. You'll melt it next time buddy!! :cool:rock

Congrats! :rock It doesn't matter that you didn't kill it in 5 minutes or one session...just that you did it. The next one will go down much faster I'm sure.

Nice work Hugo, you finished it so you did get it! :rock

You have accomplished a great deal in a very short time and shouldn't be so hard on yourself! ;):)

I always get nervous when I'm videotaping a bend... I hate that

You know the perfect remedy? Just get one of those new 2TB SD cards for your camera and videotape every single bend you do EVER. :D

Don't sweat it Hugo! I'm sure bending is just like lifting. I have days where I can't go 100% in the gym either. Especially if you were feeling sick! The fact that you stuck it out and finished the bend says a lot, though. Failure is tough for morale, I know, but it happens. The best thing to do is listen to your body. If you're not up to it that day, try for a different type of PB, like bending several easier nails in a set time or something (just an example). That way if you don't think you can bend the harder stuff, you can still walk away with something to to feel good about :)

Very good news Hugo! I know you'll have great success with it just like everyone who puts a bunch of effort into it. Looking forward to seeing how it treats you over the coming months.
