ruffhans
After learning about the zottman curl a week ago, i got to try a few good sets for a couple of days. i would like to say that anyone that has never tried theese should give them a go! i will not be using them for now as i already have a training routine that i want to go with for a couple of months. however you can be SURE that they hold a place in my future training! Also i would like to say that i ripped my first phone book inhalf the other day!!!!! wow! it took me about 3 minutes to do, but i did it!!! funny thing,..the next day i went to show my wife the ripped book, and decided to give it another try. i ripped it in two like nothing!!! hmmmm,..must have been the warm up the day before?? oh well. i will let you all know when i do it agian. i saw very soon that this feat is all technique! not to take anything away from the grip part. ruffhans
Well im not a regular phone book ripper, and there is better folks here to give you good advice, but i will say what i feel has helped me! First you need to know that i wasnt realy looking at this feat as a goal, so i wasnt training for it. nor was i keeping track of what helped me or not. i do know that i have been ripping national geographics in have every now and then for the last 2 months. im not saying you have to ripp theese, i just had a bunch setting around the house. but i believe that if you cant rip a phonebook, find something you can rip. something that will provide a good chalenge. i couldnt believ how mush of mastering this feat was in the first part of the move! getting that rip started is where its ALL at, IMO. as far as grip-a good nonthumb grip is needded. a grip where your fingers are pressing agianst your hand with the thumb out of tha way. this how it worked for me anyhow.if you go to rip something, you will get a feel for it real fast! but, if there was ONE thing that i believed helped alot- it was a strong wrist!!!! maybee this wil help ya,..i would say just start ripping things and you will get a feel for it. how strong are you now? what can you do? what grippers can you close? xazaralix
wow, thanks for your help, friend . I tried to rip one of the smaller phone books in half. I think I probably have a ways to go, i'm still pretty weak, lol. I don't have the coc's, I train on the Supergripper. I'm going to shoot for the 214# setting tomorrow. other than that, i just do plate curls, pinch, and wrap up with a wrist roller. do you think I should focus on wrist exercises more? thanks again. ruffhans
sounds like you got enought things for a good training routine. the wrist roller is a good wrist device! if your handle is not thick, i would thiken it. 2 inches is good. get yourself a pipe, or use ducktape. asfar as the best wrist excersise for phonebook tearing- im not sure. i know i do alot of sledge hammer lifts. what you could do with the phonebook is try tearing half of it, or even 1/4 of it, and add some more pages each week!
