Todd Kartchner
Robert: Can you post the lengths and type of metal you used to create your cheaper version of the IM Bag O' Nails? Many thanks, Todd Kartchner
RSW
Hi Todd, I use Crown Bolt company Hot rolled steel rods in 3/16", 1/4" and 5/16" diameter. I cut the rods to length using bolt cutters, but a hacksaw would do. Ironmind White 3/16"x7" ~110lb to bend Ironmind Green 3/16"x5" ~160lb. Ironmind Yellow 1/4"x7" ~210lb Ironmind Blue 1/4"x6" ~260lb Ironmind Red 5/16"x7" COLD ROLLED steel ~400lb I have the Bag'0 Nails and I can not feel any difference in difficulty bending white-Blue with my equivalents. I can't bend the 5/16' stock or the Red nail, so I can't tell you how the HRS compares with Ironminds cold rolled stock. How is your bending going? Todd Kartchner
Robert, I haven't been bending at all over the past few months because I misplaced my bending materials in a recent move. I had also misplaced my notes on your suggestions for a cheaper version of IM's Bag O' Nails. Now that you provided that information, I'll be making a trip to Home Depot so that I can start bending again. I'll let you know how things are going in a few months. Hope you are making continued progress in your quest to bend the Red. Best Regards, Todd Kartchner
