naturalstrength
I got this horseshoe in Ireland about six months ago and recently stumbled across it. Is this shoe possible to bend? ( I can barely lift the thing, let alone bend it) Just wondering, because it seems MUCH bigger than most of the shoes I've seen bent, but I could be wrong. MalachiMcMullen
Pat Povilaitis has moved a Diamond Draft #8 shoe which is 1/2x1" and about 10"-12" long. My guess is, even Pat, the King of shoes, would have a hell of a time with that one.
justiceislost1988
pat would get it to 90 at least i think and i think chris rider could move it as well
antarath
Give it to Pat
timiacobucci
That is a bad ass shoe. It's real shiny, is it heavy? It almost looks like aluminum. But I don't think they were making aluminum shoes 50 years ago. I'll sure give it a shot if you wanna send it to me. But ya, someone like Pat would stand a much better chance. Also like Adam saif if it is really that old it could be iron which is very soft compared to modern steel.
foxyj75
I'd say if it's cast iron, Pat could kill it no problem. But if it is indeed steel, I dunno, Pat might move it, but not by much. That would be like doing 2 DC2's at once!(approx. )
naturalstrength
I actually remeasured the thickness and its over 5/8" thick. I am not to sure of its composition but it sure seems tough. I would say that it weighs at least well over pound. It is VERY heavy. I would like to send it to one of you guys to try and bend it, but it actually belongs to my wife. If she finds out that I gave it to someone to get bent, she will most likely do the same to my neck. She already dislikes the whole bending/grippers thing altogether {N.B.}The shoe has been painted silver because it was rusty, so its NOT aluminum (at least I don't think it was) Edited June 15, 2008 by naturalstrength

That's cool though I wish I had a huge old antique horseshoe too, I wouldn't want it to be destoyed... unless I had a spare. Just work on that regular for now Paul. Paul, even if this shoe was impossible to bend, I am sure you would find a way to add it to the record books. You're overall bending has been phenomenal lately(actually, it has been since day one!) Like I said, I would let one of you guys try to bend it, but my wife WOULD brace bend my neck (probably into a scroll) Hahaa
wscorpion
Paul, I have one of those as well, brand new, which I'm sure you won't be able to bend I'll post the dimensions in a few hours once I get home
wscorpion
Here's a pic of the shoe: http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?autocom...si&img=7474 13.34mm thick and 36.6mm wide. it weighs 1816 grams. Especially mind the triangle in the center of the shoe, this will definitely stop anyone from bending this shoe Edited June 15, 2008 by White Scorpion
MalachiMcMullen
Whew Mark!!! I think your right, that thing is over 1/2" thick and 1.5" wide!!! The man who bends that would make Pat P. look like a beginner bending Ultralites! Oh yeah, the triangle wouldn't stop any would-be bender, just flip the shoe over and use extra padding for the crush
Paul Knight
holy crap! I guess you've tried Mark? how much did that thing cost?
wscorpion
holy crap! I guess you've tried Mark? how much did that thing cost? Of course I've tried it I didn't pay anything for it. I called a local vendor for horse shoes, once he knew what I wanted to do with it he decided to send me some and sponsor me. This one was in the box as well, kind of like a joke
Tim71
Oh man! What brand is that thing? I vote no way will that one ever be bent. Not only is it thicker and wider, but it doesn't extend up as high as the #8 diamond to give a little more leverage. Looks like a mastadon shoe! antarath
Kinda looks like a Kerckhaert. The egg-shape, the ends etc. Oh and yes, that "toe" is great to have there, especially when you're pushing it on your thigh Edited June 16, 2008 by Mats Erik
timiacobucci
How long is it exactly? Even a big #8 shoe is possible because of the long ass levers you got to crank on. That thing looks stubby at that size though. Maybe if it was like 4" longer. That is like taking a 7" moab and cutting it to 4".
Paul Knight
Got to thinking about this whole wife thing and her being mad if the shoe were gone. Maybe myself and alittle help from some others - we could fashion a shoe out of clay or something then bake it (to harden it) then spray paint it and wallah!(sp) we could pull the old switch-a-rooney and your wife would never know the difference! sound like a plan? P.S. your wife doesn't read these posts does she? Edited June 20, 2008 by Paul Knight

She is visiting her folks in Ireland next month and I think there may be an extra shoe. Hopefully she can bring back the spare one. If she can I promise I'll send it to you to try to bend it first. If you can't, send it to Pat P. I's a win-win situation
