Tim71
Great bend! I must admit, looking at the title, I first thought you bent a 28 inch long flat bar with the diminsions of 5/8" by 3/4" which would've been out of this world. Still a very great bend! timiacobucci
I first thought you bent a 28 inch long flat bar with the diminsions of 5/8" by 3/4" which would've been out of this world. I picked up some 5/8" x 1" last time I got some steel. I don't think I'll be bending it real soon even at 4'. I think it should be pretty close to a 7/8" bar. I think it might actually be a hair easier. 5/8" x 1" = 0.625 in^2 cross section 7/8" round = 0.60132 in^2 1/2" x 1" = 0.5 in^2 3/4" round = 0.44179 in^2 The 1/2" flat only feels a bit harder than 3/4" round at nearly .06" more cross section. Obviously you aren't bending against the beef otherwise it would be a ton harder. The 5/8" flat is only 0.25" over the 7/8" round in cross section so I don't think there is enough more to overcompensate for bending it across the short side. 28" of that stuff is superman style. Sorry I didn't mean to hijack your thread, I just like throwing out numbers sometimes. Speaking of the big stuff have you tried any 3/4" yet Bossie? Paul Knight
Jim! just watched the vid! great technique! I've seen that technique somewhere before . You made it look too easy - you can go much shorter! P.S. did you get a bruise on your ham-string from the bend?
