wscorpion
For a long time I didn't feel any need to get certified on the Red Nail, but today I thought: "What the heck, let's just do it!". So I just sent an email to IronMind asking them to find a judge in my area so I can get certified. In prep. of this bend I just bent a bastard under 30 sec. with IM pads. Will do some more preparation once I know when the actual certification will be.

David_wigren
wish you the best with the cert. If you have some reds, try them with the IM pads. Bastards like everything else can vary.

wscorpion
Thanks guys!! wish you the best with the cert. If you have some reds, try them with the IM pads. Bastards like everything else can vary. I don't have reds, but I'm pretty safe with the bastards, those are the harder ones, so definitely harder then a red The only thing that bothers me a bit is that your not allowed to put on a small rubber band to keep the wraps in place, and especially in the sweep I take my hands off for a sec for a re-grip. This is something I need to work on, but for the rest, I don't have any doubts at all

Paul Knight
If your doing the tough bastards in IM pads: you'll be able to do the red blind folded, upside-down, drunk!

wscorpion
Thanks guys! @Paul, I did it in IM pads... I would give the shiny a try as well in IM pads, but due to recent injury I'm afraid it will get worse with such a hard crush down
naturalstrength
If your doing the tough bastards in IM pads: you'll be able to do the red blind folded, upside-down, drunk! Remember, you will also have adrenaline on your side that day, so you very well may be able to bend the red barehanded so don't worry about the rubber bands. Good luck Edited May 22, 2008 by naturalstrength

Good luck That's the point, that doesn't really work for me. On my first (and only) contest back in september I was pretty nervous during my first bend, and especially the kink just didn't feel that great. Once I got started it was no problem, but that first start is annoying Btw, tested without rubber bands yesterday with 5/16" x 7", 5/16" x 6.5" and 5/16" x 6" and all went down well under 1 minute, so my strength / technique shouldn't be a problem. Just the nerves though

I remembered with my cert that I was a bit nervous and actually fumbled a bit on the kink with all my 3 bends. Still they went down very fast, very much because of the adrenaline. Being nervous might screw with ones techniqe a bit but the extra strength makes up for it. You will get that red, no problem

You will get that red, no problem These weren't bastards, just plain 5/16" CRS. guess it's similar to the red nails. I'm sure I can take down the heavy bastards with IM pads as well though since I had plenty of strength left during these bends. Once my injury is healed I might give the shiny a try in IM pads

timiacobucci
Good luck man you will get it easy, just rest and heal up for a bit instead of seeing how much you can aggrivate your injury with test bends first, hehehe.

wscorpion
Last thing I heared from IM was on the 22nd of May, telling me it would take approx. 1 week to find a judge in my area. Still haven't heared anything from them so sent them another email a few minutes ago. Does this always take that long? It's time to bend that red and be done with it

Does this always take that long? It's time to bend that red and be done with it I think it took a lot longer for you since you're international, there's A LOT less gripsters in the Netherlands then in the U.S. so it's harder to find a judge. Alawadhi
I sent them an email more than a month and they didn't reply. I didn't reply back because I need more time since I stopped. When I will return (probably soon the Red in IM pads will fall) I will email them again.
