Stew
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oWoYKs_k7tk Was planning on leaving the bending until after the brits and my arm had healed but after seeing the great bends people have been posting on the long and mid bars lately I had to do at least one to get it out of my system. I hadn't really gone after a 5/8 before bar so I decided to start at a level I thought I would be able to do reasonably comfortably and to be honest I thought this would be a bit easier than it was. When I wanted to chest crush I realised I needed a bit more from my injured arm than I thought I would but it went in the end and I went to the legs quite early to try and not do anymore with my arm than neccesary. Give it a few weeks for my arm to get better and I hope to get properly in the hunt for the 22" unless someone else does it first. timiacobucci
Nice bend man, ya you got more in ya. I look forward to seeing some more bends. Are you gonna try some shorter 3/4" or 20mm that david had, if you have any of it you lucky dog?
Stew
Ive got some 20mm bar which I would like to have a go at over the month or so but I'm carrying a bit of a bicep injury and really need everything working properly if I'm going to improve on my long bar so will probably hold off on it until my arm feels good and just concentrate on the 1/2 & 5/8 in the meantime. It seems a bit of an odd thing that the only bar we seem to get over hear for 3/4 is 20mm plus and the stuff everyone else gets is 19", I would really like to get my hands on some 19mm in the same way I'm sure you guys would like some 20MM. Very very nice bend Stew! Boy you ain't kidding on the steel but take it from a postal employee, the shipping on that would be a killer! At least coming from the US. I used to do some steel swapping overseas but it's just not very possible any more with the new shipping rates and methods. I bet your 20mm is noticably harder than the 19mm or 3/4 just as our 12.7mm is noticably harder than the 12mm. Tim
timiacobucci
David's big bend is actually 20.45mm , 3/4" is almost 19mm dead on. So that is closer to 1.5 mm difference. That is almost halfway to 7/8" or 22.25mm. Stew is you 20mm 20 dead on or more like 20.45 like David's? Tim just how crazy of a shipping cost are we talking here really? Stew
The steel I used for my original bend was 20.27 that I got from David left over from the comp and that felt easier than the 20.45 stuff we used when David did the 40" bar. The new batch I have just bought is likely to be somewhere in that region also as for some reason over here that it what they call a 3/4 bar. My brother is an engineer and worked out that 1mm on this stuff makes quite a difference to the poundage it takes to bend it and so affects the length of bar you can do quite a bit (possibly around 4") although I without being able to try both side by side its hard to say exactly. Tim71
Tim, Not sure of the exact price but there is no surface mail anymore at that weight so it would go Global priority if that tells you anything. Depending on the weight I bet just a few bars would be $50.00 and it might be over the maximum dimension standards anyway. Might not be mailable. I'll try to check tomorrow.
