TKtheGreek
So im home now and able to bend. So i decide to kinda ease into it abit. I warmup stretch do a few warmup bends and before I go for a tougher bend and I decide to do a final warmup by restraightening a shiny bastard i had bent previously. I do this alot of times with reds jsut to get a warm up in. So straightened the shiny and went at it. WOW, something happens to this stuff when it bends, its not just crusshing it down that makes it so hard. Anyways, if anyone want a challenge if you straighten a bent shiny it does not like to move! I'd say it ramps up a good 25% in difficulty, ive coined it an atomic shiny haha. Here a bend from the workout, im not at the level i was at a few moths ago but ill be there again in time Grand Bastard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3c_Ld4csHQI
David_wigren
Sweet bend. Yeah, that's what I've thought. It couldn't just be the wide curve of the apex that made it hard. But an actuall chemical change or something within the steel aswell. Probably why they ramp up so much toward the crush
MalachiMcMullen
Stainless steel work hardens when it bends so straightening a bent shiny is basically bending a work hardened shiny from straight. That would explain why it is so much harder.

Paul Knight
Its funny your mentioning this now, because I was toying around w/the shiny I bent the other day and I was touching a magnet to it, and where the bend is on the bar the magnet now sticks to it a little! before when it was straight the magnet did nothing. When I touch the magnet to the ends it still doesn't react, but when I touch it to the bend it does. What the !?!?!?!?

Clearly something is going on inside the steel, making it harder Edited May 10, 2008 by David_wigren
foxyj75
Nice bend Teddy!! I also noticed the magnetism change when I cut my shinys down with bolt cutters. At the end where the bolt cutters sheared/stretched the metal, it is now magnetic! Freaked me out a couple times when I was doing shiny vids!! Great bend, good luck working your (short) road to the shiny and more!! Edited May 10, 2008 by luuc
