Number Ten Ox
In case you haven't read http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?showtopic=26675 we are having a grip competition in WA state near Seattle. We would like to have a two handed pinch event and use a Euro Pinch Device. Looking at David Hornes site, it seems that currently the device he is offering is a little out of our price range. Ideally we would love to borrow (rent?) one from someone for the comp, but I could also purchase one if it was a bit cheaper than Mr. Hornes. Any help in this would be greatly, greatly appreciated (leads on a tool we could buy, borrow, or make). Thanks! Joe
verdigriz
I also checked this out a while ago, and shipping was just shear rape, it would cost me close to $550 AU from england and over $400 from the states Hence there being only 2 in the country.... honk
Go to a local welder and get the steel discs lasered will probably cost you 20 to 20 dollars. Next go to home depot and get a roll of impact sound insulation, not to expensive either. Edited May 8, 2008 by honk
Bob Lipinski
I have 3 suggestions: 1. If it is a relatively local contest, and no "big names" show up, just use plates the first year. They will definitely get the job done. 2. If you have a dedicated group of grip guys nearby, you can jack up the entry fee a touch to ease the bite of buying one. If you have serious guys, hopefully they wouldn't mind. 3. Sponsorship. Probably a bit harder through the normal online vendors if you don't have an established contest or any good connections. You never know though.
Jedd Johnson
I agree. Make the purchase guys. You will be glad you did. Of course, there is nothing wrong whatsoever with just using a couple of decent plates that aren't too sharp. Sharp edges can dig up the thumbs.
