dima700 Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Hi. I've been considering buying one of these things to train my pinch grip but I wasn't sure which one to get. I thought I would ask for advice if anyone used these before or knows something about them. To know what I'm talking about here are the links: http://www6.mailordercentral.com/ironmind/...asp?number=1244 Hub-Style Pinch Gripper http://www6.mailordercentral.com/ironmind/...asp?number=1248 Blockbuster Pinch Grip Block There is a price difference but it doesn't matter for me; I just want one that works the pinch the best. I think that the pinch block would simulate pinching plates or blobs because it has a 3 inch width, which is same width as pinching 4 10-pound plates. I also read that pinching blobs is a good way to improve on gripper closing, so I thought that using the pinch grip block would work my thumb and fingers AND improve my hand gripper closings. The hub gripper, on the other hand, seems like it would target more of the fingers because of the way you grab it. Which one do you think would be a better buy for me? Tanks. David Horne Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Totally depends on what kind of pinch you want to train for. Quote
DAN PRAYDIS Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 BUY THE HUB AND GET DAVID TO POST A PIC OF HIS PINCH DEVISE HE MADE FROM A BOARD WITH PINS IN IT FOR WEIGHT THATS GOOD FOR TRAINING THE PINCH Quote JUST BECAUSE ITS NOT ALIVE * DOESN'T MEAN ITS DEAD
gerryg Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 The pinch block cost a little bit less at FBBC. http://www.fatbastardbarbellco.com/ECONOMYPINCH.html Quote

climber511 Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 A pinch block has to be one of the easiest items to make yourself. And due to the fact you might want to train various widths (highly recommended) - it makes even more sense to make them yourself. You can use wood or steel and make high quality devices for very little money that will work as well as anything you might buy. jad Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 I wouldn't buy either, they're both easily made. Quote Proud member of the Feat Cheaters Club! Captain of Crush 2003-2011 Josh Dale Wentzville, MO
twig Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Get The Chunk, as climber and jad have said the others are easy to make, all you need is a couple of screwhooks, a hockey puck and a block of wood. Quote Be nice until it's time to not be nice-Patrick Swayze, Dalton, Raodhose. R.I.P.

I would say get the Hub and try your hand at making something It's a lot fun making your own grip toys. Do youe come to the Riverside area there's a Health store that actually carries IronMind products I was there last week and saw the pinchblock there. I bought the Wicked Wrist Roller myself. dima700 Posted December 29, 2007 Author Posted December 29, 2007 Thanks everyone. So far it seems like a device that can be adjusted for width would be the best choice at the moment, i.e. the Chunk. One question: would it be better to buy the loading pin from Fatbastardbarbellco or Ironmind if I was going to buy the Chunk - Blob Simulator? Thanks again. Unfortunately, I am very bad at making things myself, so making my own apparatus is not an option.
