Titan Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I can DU an IM Blue but I cannot DU a 1/4" x 6 " bolt from Lowes or Home Depot and I thought these were both Grade 2 Bolts ? I also was under the impression they both were suppose to be easier than an Im Blue in difficulty ? I could only kink the Lowes one and just tried the Home Depot one (which has 3 B's stamped on the head) and again could only kink it as well. I know .. I'm suppose to be taking it easy since my wrists have been hurting the past 2 days but I can't seem to stay away from bending .. lol Again .. are both of these bolts I bought at Lowes & Home Depot Grade 2 bolts for sure ? The galvinized versions bend pretty easy but these have more of a shiny finish to them. Thks All ... T Quote If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. gerryg Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Take a few days off from bending and let your hand heal! I have bought the 6"x1/4" grade 2(BBB) bolts from Home Depot many times and they are very easy to me. So I would say rest yours hands for a few days! Quote
Titan Posted November 16, 2007 Author Posted November 16, 2007 Thanks Gerry .. I will hede your advice and lay off for a couple days .... but just out of PURE curiosity i can only assume a Blue is very easy for you so my question is do you feel these bolts are actually easier than the Blue ? Again., I am so new so anything above a Blue is a PR for me, however, I cant seem to find a stock that is a jump up because I thought these rated as a jump down .. lol I suppose I could cut off 1/4" of the Blue ??? John is sending me some hex stuff that is a mild jump up from the Blue. I cant wait to get it along with some leather he sells and recommends. Thks for the advice Gerry. Jedd Johnson Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 All the 1/4 inch stuff i ever got from lowes and home depot was pretty easy. I have a question - are you getting a tight wrap on the bolt with the head on it? If it's a loose wrap, it is going to be tougher. nockowt1 Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 What's funny is that I can put a pretty good kink in a blue (DU), but I can't do anything with one of those bolts. Quote Real Name: Kevin McFadden
gerryg Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 You should be able to bend the Home Depot 1/4"x6" grade 2(BBB) bolt way before you are even close to bending the FBBC 1/4"x6" hex DU. The hex can be tough stuff! REST a few days than go back to battle with that grade 2 bolt! If you can get the IM blue DU the grade 2 bolt should be no problem for you! Quote
Titan Posted November 16, 2007 Author Posted November 16, 2007 What's funny is that I can put a pretty good kink in a blue (DU), but I can't do anything with one of those bolts. Hey Jedd ... I could probably get it tighter i will try in a couple days. Hey nock .. this is what has me baffled .. Do these bolts vary alot from batch to batch. I'm not crying the Blues (no pun intended) here but just perplexed is all. Jedd .sending you a PM bro !! Thks guys .. Quote If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. Tim71 Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 They vary alot but all should be easier than a blue; at least in my experience. Sometimes the head can give people fits even if the actual numbers are lower. Changes the angle slightly. Might be it. Try cutting the head off one of those bolts and give it a go. You'll get it. We all have and do go through frustrating times. Tim Quote
Jedd Johnson Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Titan, from some of you other threads I am reading that you are having pain. This may be the reason you are having trouble with what is usually a lighter bolt. Your brain may sense there is something over-stressed in your joints or forearms and may not be allowing you to apply maximum pressure through the area. Take a few days off, ice, heat, wrap, etc and you will get back to your previous strength levels. Tim71 Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Good advise from Jedd. Also, I switched which hand I'd put the head of the bolt in a while back and that really helped. You might switch up too. Tim Quote
Titan Posted November 20, 2007 Author Posted November 20, 2007 Thanks Jedd & Tim. I will try again tommorrow. I have rested a few days already. All of what you guys are saying makes ALOT of sense ! Thks !! Quote If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. For when I am weak then I am strong
nockowt1 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I think not being able to bend a grade 2 bolt was mental for me. Yesterday after opening some new eyes to grip training I decided to do some bending while I had an audience. I destroyed a grade 2 bolt (1/4"x6") DU. It was a lot easier than try to bend a yellow or a blue. Quote Real Name: Kevin McFadden
bencrush Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 A lot depends on what type of Grade 2 it is. The HKT Grade 2s are the hardest I ever found and they're very close to a Blue Nail. Some of the other G2s are so soft that it's a night and day difference. Quote
Titan Posted November 21, 2007 Author Posted November 21, 2007 All I can say is both my Grade 2's (from Lowes & HD) are harder for me to bend than my IM Yellow & Blues. I wil be trying again in a day or so. Quote If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. For when I am weak then I am strong

I wil be trying again in a day or so. Try going to Ace hardware or any other harware stores in your area for the G2's that's where I found the (307A's) and (OF's). It's also part of fun hunting down some of these bolts. I would also while your there look and see what kind of G5s they carry too. For some reason the smaller stores carry a better selection of bolts. Titan Posted November 26, 2007 Author Posted November 26, 2007 From what I have read here .. many seem to think that the Grade 2 should be easier than the Blue Im but in my case its not even close .. and my IM's are legit .. lol I think I'm gonna try an ACE, and if they bend easier than the Blue then I really would like to know what I bought at Lowes and HD ? lol My Blue & Yellows kink and get crushed way under 2" within 20 seconds and these Grade 2's are barely budging .. lol Quote If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.
