Bob Lipinski Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 First of all, sorry I can't make it Chris! A recent daycare change has me a little hard up for weekend time. 1- Chad Woodall. He will win grippers, axle, and likely pinch. May narrowly lose medley and reverse bending. Will likely get beat on rim hold, just my opinion. Maybe not. 2-3- Good mixup between Thorton and Jedd. Jedd has Dave on grippers and reverse bending, Dave has Jedd maybe on rim hold and pinch. Axle and medley are a tossup. Slight edge to Jedd. 4-5 Chris or Josh. Home advantage for Chris, plus I don't know how Josh is on some of the events. Josh will win grippers, I have Chris on reverse bending and pinch. Scoring system plays a part here too- Josh will likely really beat chris on the grippers, whereas I don't see Chris with such a big margin on his events. I say edge to Chris. There is a start. As always, I am rooting for my Michigan buddy Dave Thorton! He can never be counted completely out. Quote US Handstrength
climber511 Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Bob I'm sorry you can't make it - I was looking forward to a rematch! I won't make any overall type predictions this time. Jedd will win the Pinch - possibly setting a new record in the process - I think he'll do it here - my garage has magic in it hehe. He gave it a heck of a ride at GGC. I think Eric Milfeld, John Eaton, Brad, Nick, Anson, Josh and I will all land in a pile too close to call. I'd throw Beatty in here but I haven't heard any more from him about still coming - I sure hope he makes it. Josh's lead from the grippers will be hard to make up - at least by me - my grippers suck. I've heard Eaton has done more than one workout in prep for Gripmas - that scares me - he's good at all of the big events I'm having. One or more of the strongman guys from Lancaster will surprise everyone I think. I figured it would be Brad until he told me one of his friends had a better grip than he does - Dang, that's a scary thought! I am desperately trying to find something to put into the medley that will stop the big boys and yet be possible by someone (anyone) when fresh - I just can't figure these guys weak spot! The "Humbler" does have a chance at getting them - it's a real fooler and something never seen before I think. I mean, sure I can stop them but it has to still be a little bit reasonable. Grippers - Chad and Josh - possible tie Pinch - Jedd Axle - Chad Medley - the guy with zero weakness's and more than a few strong points. Reverse Bending - Jedd and Eaton -possible Bastard Bend here or maybe 2 of them. Chad is an unknown for reverse but I remember how fast he learned DO so I won't count him out at all. The guy is just plain strong. Plate Hold - Thorton gets my nod. smitty Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 I hope everyone sets PR's in all events and has a great time.... With that being said, I can't vote against my boy. I definitely hope he does a WR pinch... Good luck to all the competitors! Quote -Smitty- www.DIESELCREW.com "Achieving Beyond Potential"
Bob Lipinski Posted November 11, 2007 Author Posted November 11, 2007 Forgot about Anson. He will be in there. We'll have a rematch sooner or later Chris! Quote US Handstrength
jad Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Unless I figure out reverse, I won't be very competitive in the overall. I have the lever strength, so either reverse has little to do with front and rear levering sledges or I've just blown the technique. That said my goals are as follows: Grippers: want to close a gripper that calibrates at least 200#. I hope there is a #4 right around 200# there. Pinch: want to pinch at least 200# would LOVE to pinch BW. I'm going to try and be 210-215 TTWC: no idea, the real deal is too different from what I'm doing. You have to have multiple spotters to train heavy. Plate Hold: again no idea as the plates I train with are too different; don't even know what a good time is. Axle: 350 Reverse: a G8 unless I somehow get good between now and Gripmas Medley: who knows, as long as I can load the blob, assuming there is a blob, I'll be happy. There's nothing worse than missing something you know you're capable of. Can't wait guys! Looking forward to trying some one arm bb snatches. The dbs are a hoot but I've never tried a bb. Rick Walker Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Jedd has been chasing that pinch record for some time, and each time he gets so close. We discussed his recent training a couple days ago and I trully believe he is ready and there is no question he is strong enough. Go get it Jedd!
