Hi,

Can anybody please give me some advise on how to build the thumb pad? I'm getting real close on my #3 but I feel it's the thumb pad letting me down on the close as the gripper seems to move at the last point (even with chalk). I've got little or NO thumb pad and am really unsure of what to do. Since using grippers I've olny found them to build my forearms but not the hands, I'm I doing something wrong?

Cheers

Have you seen the thumb workout on the IMtug package if not one handle goes in the palm and the other to your thumb and you close the gripper with just your thumb.Should hypertrophy the thumbpad. If not do some more pinch work.

Blockweights, Rolling thunder, pinch work...

mix it up a little, and most important of all... patience

I'm sure you'll get that #3 soon enough, just keep training hard and it will come.

Hi Teemu,

Yes I am that guy but it's my upper thumb muscle that's growing, I did say this in that post. I've been pinching foldback clips to build the thumb and if I look at the thumb muscle between the thumb and index finger from top of the hand then YES it's grow like crazy. It's the thumb PAD i'm trying to improve (on the palm side of the hand). Teemu, as a great gripper closer (I've seen many of your vids) I'm hoping you can give me some advise here. I need to build a pad for the gripper to rest on......PLEASE HELP!!......anybody!!

I think everyone will agree that if anything helps it would definitely be at least pinching (thin and wide).

Yep, that's it, high volumes of pinch.

lloyd80s: for your thumb pad to serve as better anchor, I'd suggest that you do pinky and ring finger pinching (along with the regular pinching), as that is the way your thumb should be pointing at for optimal thumb side handle positioning. But in general, train your grip to be stronger all-around, 2HP, thick bar, RT, block weights and you will be fine. Everything adds up in the end and pays off.
