BRETTY1 Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 When i first bought my grippers i got the #1 #2 #3 #4 i closed the #1 like 20 or 30 times but could only close my #2 half way. Well i can now close my #2 and have been able to for a while now but im still way off on my number #3 but im determined to close it by xmas. The way i see it ive made a decision to close it by xmas that gives me 4months to train my ass off im thinking of getting the KTA programme im also in the middle of building a grip machine to help me succeed as six months after i want to close my #4 lmao Quote

You've already put the work in to go from a #1 to a #2 so you know what a good feeling it is to close a harder gripper. The only thing I'd say is.....Give it 100% in all your training, stay injury free and enjoy gripping. P.S If you don't close the #3 by Christmas please don't give up. Just remember that as long as you're getting the handles nearer each month then you'll get there in the end. I started grip training in Feb and it's been my target to close the #3 before my wife gives birth to our first baby, I'm about 3mm off and the baby's due in 5 weeks!! It's going to be very close wether I reach my target or not!! Quote IT'S ONLY A SPRING........

dimmers Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Setting goals is a great way to keep motivated. I'm sure if you train hard enough you will get there, but as others have said to be too upset if you don't reach your target date, everyone is different and it will take as long as it takes. If you stay focused, and you want it enough you'll get there in the end! good luck Quote

twig Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 When your Baby grabs your finger, it'll feel like the most powerful grip on earth! And you know what? It IS! Find me a 40 year old man with the relative grip of a 3 day old baby, and I'll show you the best there'll ever be. Quote Be nice until it's time to not be nice-Patrick Swayze, Dalton, Raodhose. amaury Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 I have the same goal. Do you plan to close it with a // set, a CCS set or no set (out of pure curiosity)? Good luck with your training. Quote

My wife and I just had our first baby, a girl, 4 months ago. Twig is right, being Daddy is the best. And might I say my little one has a firm grip herself. Just try to get that bottle away from her! Anyway, I see where you are within 3mm of the close and thought I'd suggest trying a set or two of the old squat to spike up the nervous system. I recently was about 3mm away from my 2.5 and met Sean Dockery and Nick Rosendaul who showed me several lifts and gave me ALOT of tips (I actually had to take notes). One of the suggestions was doing some type of heavy lifts to get your body ready and then give the gripper a go. Well, it worked for me. I closed my 2.5 the next time I tried it and since I have become more and more consistent without the added squats. Give it a try and see if it puts you over the top! Tim Quote

Showing my ignorance here, amaury, could you explain the differences in the sets please? cheers aXe Hi, - // set: The gripper handles are parallel when you start closing the gripper (you priorily used your other hand to get the handles in that position). -CCS set: same here but the handles are not parallel but far enough to fit a credit card in between. That's the kind of set required by Ironmind for their certification process. It is obviously harder than // set. - No set: the handles are as far apart as possible when you start the close. You never use your other hand to get them closer before starting the close. This is the hardest set. Hope that makes sense. Use the search function of the board for additional info. Quote

Congratulations man. It's nice to know you can have a baby and still have time to grip. The guys i work with have been winding me up saying as soon as my baby's born I'll never get time to train. I told them all that I'd even keep a gripper in the toilet if I needed to so I could grip instead of reading hte newspaper!!! I'll find free time alright.... Quote IT'S ONLY A SPRING........
