viper Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 comments on sam (coc3) - top bloke, an dude did some good feats >clean + press 53k inch, no set #3, ccs #3, blue bend, lifted the blob to near lockout, hub pinched 15k disk overhead, i seen him get my 3.5 to 1/8 inverted an apparently he closed one of em, we kept getting confused on which was which so it could have been either one i dont know. I think sam will lift the inch soon enough, i also think he will bend a red soon enough, an he could probably cert on a #3, maybe needs to do a little more wide set stuff in the case of getting a tough #3 for the cert though. The problem i see with grippers for sam is he sets it way too deep, an im not sure you can use inverted for certs an comps?? hes strong at holding them shut, an not bad at the sweep as you can see from no set an ccs vids, so i think its more a bad habbit than anything. comments on steve (mobster) - again, top bloke, an just like i thought, he knows everything! steve taught me more in a day than ive learnt in like 2 years, so many little tricks an techniques, an they all worked just like he said + he has HUGE forearms, an his hands are pretty damn meaty, biggest hands ive ever seen, biggest forearms ive ever seen, an without a doubt the strongest grip ive ever seen, was impressed to no end with him >he did everything easy an found mashing my #3.5 an #3 funny haha i seen him get sams #4 very close, was very unlucky not to get it. After talking to him its clear steve is very smart with his training, an to sum it up, hes very very good. I couldn't sleep or eat/drink the night before haha im not sure if id ate something funny at lunch time or if it was just cuss of what i was doing the next day, but all id had for 15 hours or so was a packet of crisp an half a bowl of cereal + probably 1-2 pints of water >seems impossible but at mobsters i weighed 240lbs with clothes an belt, so probably 237lbs without, an then several hours later before i went sleep i weighed in at 254lbs unclothed, while still feeling very hungry an thirsty (???) what i did - did some squats upto 140k for 3 x 5, felt kinda heavy for some reason but my injuries to my back an knee were not bothering me too much an i felt positive. I did a couple reps on my #1 an then picked up a #2 an did some on that, however it felt a lot harder than my #2 usually does, then i did my final warm up of #3 for singles very easily. When it came to the harder grippers i performed poor, i went for sams 3.5 1st an although i came close, the gripper had slipped slightly to a weaker position cuss i didnt have the strength in my thumb to hold it down, this was what had happened in my last 2 grip sessions, an i feel i was not rested enough. I tried my 3.5 after this an didnt even get it near. Left hand i failed a hard elite, an managed to close sams hard #3 after 3 attempts, again same thing happening, i couldn't keep it in position. Reps on #3 were not the best but i was spent by then. The one time i did manage to stop being weak an hold the position with a harder gripper was with an rb300, the knurling was sharp an i had no problems with this, actually nearly managed a triple. dumbbells - 1stly, the handles on the dumbbells are THICK!, 2ndly, the millenium is HUGE! thirdly, mark henry is a monster!!! how in the pink hell he did this http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=H0lvfvxckxU i just cant understand, i mean DAMN, what a freakin animal!! my RT is 85k each hand maybe for a max, so though ive never failed to lift a dumbbell, i didn't think i would be much use with these, i thought id maybe end up doing some triples on the 53k. When i actually tried it, it felt like there was nothing in my hand, at that point, might not be what i said, but in my mind i was gonna lift the inch right there an then, however it was much harder an it twisted out of my hand an fell as i went to lift it up, i did however do this straight up without tilt so it was not all about not having the strength, like with most things my technique was terrible. I managed to lift it all the way pretty easy applying practially no pressure with finger an thumb from the free hand, an i managed to hold it at lock out with no assistence with either hand. I managed the clean the 53k with right hand an get one bell on the shoulder with the left, an also did loads of throw an catches 3 different times till i was spent, think the last time is on video but not sure. Overall i was happy with this, especially hearing steve saying strength wise im up there an im only a few lbs away from the inch. blob - i didn't think id be able to lift this cuss my pinch is probably my worsed thing, but actually i found it easy, i deadlifted it with either hand an clean an pressed it too, i think i could lift one a good ways heavier with improved technique. 2hp - with much help from steve, i hit a PR of 75k easy, however 80k slipped out my hands as it was coming up both times i tried it, i think im good for more with practice though, so i was happy with this. hub pinch - never tried this before, sam made it look like nothing but i could hardly get the thing off the floor, got more blood than air haha bending - only thing i did was bent a blue at the end, i have not done bending in ages, an once i remembered technique it was more of a warm up level to be honest, so i was happy i have not lost strength with that. Overall, i know if i came in well rested like i should have i would have done better, but im not unhappy with my performance. If possible id like to do this little threesome (lol) again in a couple months time. I should definately close a 3.5 by then an ill go for double tns on my #3 an sams #3 hes gave me / ill for sure give the inch a better attempt / may see if i can do something stupid like 50 deadlifts in a row on the 53k / attempt the red nail After doing all this i definately feel exactly the same as i did before as far as my potential goes, you can doubt me, believe me, love me or hate me, but i will bust my a** till theres nobody on this planet that has a stronger grip than me. Thanks very much to both sam and steve for a great days training session an all the help. Viper Quote http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=savvy22

Guest Bonzi Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 (edited) Viper, it sounds like you represented yourself VERY well. Good luck on your future endeavours. I had that crow last night and it DID taste like chicken. P.S. Did they give you a lesson on video taping? P.S.2. If not for this series of events you might not have ever met two of the strongest grippers on the planet. Edited August 18, 2007 by Bonzi Quote

CoC#3 Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I bought a 78kg inch replica. (well it actually weighs 79.5kg) I have got the back bell to past the kness and the front bell about 3-4'' off. I didn't attempt the inch yesterday. If i keep training bending i think i will do a red soon. Quote real name: Sam Solomi
egg_uk Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 my bad, your not going to try and cert the red and the 3 on the same day are you? Quote Goals Get Stronger Lift what I haven't lifted Close what I haven't closed

CoC#3 Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Yes, it was (as claimed under the pic), a hold. I tried to OHP it aswell. Not there yet either. I have OHPed the inch once but it was a mess and i didn't get a very good lockout. Not sure if i would have been given it by a judge. I have come close on the inch press on video aswell dunkster took the vid - it was the last time i was at mobster's and was done with no previous training of inch style presses. spahn ranch Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Damn good gripping by all three, that's for sure; but what's with this "silence the doubters" BS? Is it a sport within the sport to troll out the highest count of doubters to subsequently silence? The vid which brought down negative comments was technically crap, and it still is; Viper's gripping has now been established as anything but crap, and I would have preferred to see a worthy presentation in the first place. All I expect from these "sticking it to the naysayers" cheerings is more crap vids. Quote Thomas, 36/6'1.5"/205/8.25" hands MMS RH #2.5, LH #2; CCS RH & LH #2 Strength and honour
