rednail300 Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 today i gave the st.coix forge size2 a try. This was my first attempt with this horseshoe, i also bent a 6" G8 and a fbbc 5\16"x7" bastard but didnt film it, becuse i didnt think i could bend it for me the g8 was tougher then the bastard does anyone else agree with that? anyway i think i did quite well with the horseshoe. here is the video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=cmIUmqhpDGI Quote real name: Erik Pettersson goals 2010: Coc #3 Bench 120 kg Bench 125 kg DL 180 kg squat 165 kg vertical card tear 15 kg plate curl 45# blob lift

vikingsrule92 Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 (edited) Great Bend! :mosher And that's weird a G8 would be harder than a bastard, especially one of the new ones, those ones are beastly. I thought a G8 was much easier, except the crushdown *shudders* Edited August 10, 2007 by vikingsrule92 Quote
Tim71 Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 There was a batch of bastards from around February of this year that were shiny and I too thought they were easier than a G8. Now the new ones are a much different story. Old ones before that too were much harder than a G8. There are some G8 bolts with a triangle on the head too that are basically G9 specs and have calibrated at 495 lbs so that may be part of it too. Nice work! Tim Quote
dimmers Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 nice work!!! i've got one of those number 2 lite horse shoes and i can't get it to budge, very tough! well done Quote
dansweeney Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Dimmers, the St. Croix shoes are kind of confusing in regards to size. I think Rednail bent an "Ultralite" #2, which is a great bend. If your shoe says "Lite" 2, it is a "Rim" Lite which is NO JOKE and much harder.... Dan Quote
Alawadhi Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Well done That was easy for you! Tim That explains why I had a hard time bending the 5" tri G8. But the new bastard are harder than the shiny bastard. It means a G8 wont stand a chance. Go bend another bastard on video and get certified Quote Read about me in my biography. If your shoe says "Lite" 2, it is a "Rim" Lite which is NO JOKE and much harder....Dan Now I'm confused. Do some of the St Croix shoes actually say "ultralite"? The ultralites I got from FBBC only say lite on them I think (I'll check when I get home). It's a rimmed shoe I can say that. Now, I have an unrimmed #1 lite that is a tremendously tough shoe. Much harder than a diamond classic #1 and I always assumed that was the lite, and that the ultra lites may be catalogued that way but are only stamped lite. Anybody know for sure? I guess basically are there any shoes that say "ultralite" on them? May explain why I thought the polo shoe I got from Chris was easier than the ultralite. Now, I've got a St Croix #2 regular and man that thing is thick. About 3/8inch thick and I'd love to be able to bend it but no go right now. Tim Quote
dansweeney Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Tim, I got a "quick Shoe course" from the Ferrier when I purchased my shoes. That along with the information Chris gave me.... The Ultralites do not say anything other than the size on them, but are clearly "thinner"(1/4" Thick, but "Wider" as size number increases), the Polos (3/8" Thick)also do not say anything other than the number but are a bit thicker.....The "Rims" say "Lite" if they are lite, but its only "Lite"(3/8" Thick) compared to the "Regular" Rim(7/16" Thick).... Hope that helps! Dan Quote
cjsta Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 St. Croix Ultra Lite 1/4" thick both rims St. Croix Polo 1/4" outside rim 3/8" inside rim St. Croix Lite Rim 3/8" outside rim Slight relief inside rim St. Croix Reg. Rim 7/16" outside rim Slight relief inside rim The Ultralite's are only Id'ed by St. Croix Forge on the hoof side toe and a # to indicate size at the end of the hoof side left heel. The Polo's are Id'ed by St. Croix Forge on the hoof side toe and a # and "POLO" on the end of the hoof side left heel. The Lite Rim's are Id'ed by St. Croix Forge on the hoof side toe and a # and "LITE" on the end of the hoof side left heel. Quote
Tim71 Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Chris, You are truly the "Al Bundy" of the horseshoe world. A man who knows his shoe business. You are the shoe man indeed. I'll have to go check my bent shoes now. Thanks Dan. It's possible I've never tackled an ultralite. Tim Quote

rednail300 Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 by the way i did another try to bend the bastard bar against the G8 and this was much different from the other bend. On this bend the bastard was tougher then the G8 exept for the crushdown. I do have a problem with the kink on the bastard bars and on the 7" red nail, but as soon as a get a good kink the go down quite easily. Gotta work on that kink.
