spahn ranch Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I'm squeezing beanbags (juggling balls), and wondering whether one or both of those two puppies combined would be any better - or for practical purposes at all different - for warmup/cool down/circulation/etc. Quote Thomas, 36/6'1.5"/205/8.25" hands MMS RH #2.5, LH #2; CCS RH & LH #2 Strength and honour
spahn ranch Posted August 10, 2007 Author Posted August 10, 2007 More particularly interested in the egg actually; I guess the snowball won't be anything my juggling balls aren't, but I can't find very much said about those eggs. Can't search a 3-letter word either. Quote Thomas, 36/6'1.5"/205/8.25" hands MMS RH #2.5, LH #2; CCS RH & LH #2 Strength and honour
TelegraphKey Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Can't say anything about the Egg, but I have the Snowball, and it's just okay. I really don't see the difference between the Egg & the Snowball: It just seems to be a re-shaped Snowball. I don't know about the beanbags you have but if I had to guess I'd guess there's no real important difference. burkhardmacht Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 The EGG seems to be softer - so it's better for rehab work and cool down. I own a giant snowball and it very hard on the thumbs if You squeeze hard - so it's not really the right tool for rehab work (light squeezing does not move the Snowball in any way). spahn ranch Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 Guys, I just received a reply from IM to an email I sent them inquiring about the differences between the Egg and the Snowball. The Egg is an all synthetic product, described as shape retaining and lasting for years. I might get one if or when I send for more IM toys. The Snowball is nothing more than a latex/rice filler. DIY project. Quote Thomas, 36/6'1.5"/205/8.25" hands MMS RH #2.5, LH #2; CCS RH & LH #2 Strength and honour
hab34buy Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Okay, it's not an IM egg, but it is an egg that I have. IM didn't invent the product, as a number of years ago a product by the same name (same function) was sold in sporting goods stores in my area. I am 99% positive that these are the same overall product, so here goes: The egg is basically a rubber egg, but it is not a dense rubber, rather it is a "foam rubber". By foam rubber I mean that the rubber has air bubbles contained throughout. The hard one squeezes, the denser the material becomes. I can atest to the durability of this kind of device, as I have had mine for 10-15 years (can't remember the exact number) and I used to use it everyday for a few years so it has durability to last. I own the official snowballs, and can't say that I use them much for active rest/cooldown. I prefer the powerball for these functions, as well as dexterity balls. The egg is however a good product, and while I don't use it all the time, it is good for recovering from an injury. Also, it is good for those days when there is no skin left on the hand to grind knurling into, and you need to let it heal, but still want so resistance in the crush. The actual use of the device for strength is more for isometric that dynamic crushing, by the way. Handy device, if you dont own one, think about giving it ago, but I still recommend the powerball overall. Quote Jared "JW" Walker Goals: To Reach Tomorrow What I Couldn't Today
spahn ranch Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 jw7, Thanks for the info. I just read through a search on dex balls, and I'll be looking around for alternatives to IM's overpriced offerings. The Egg sounds like it could be worth it though; I haven't seen egg shaped squeeze things élsewhere. Might well be useful as a much lighter than dex balls, carry-everywhere conditioner. axolotl66 Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Hi guys, I have something similar to these sat on my desk with my IM expand your hand bands: http://www.dalepro.com/Supply/Product.asp?Leaf_Id=553997 (actually mine is an older design in a ball shape) Good for keeping the blood flowing for sure! These look good for rehab: http://www.togu.de/index.php?artikeldetail...〈=en-GB I have a couple of pink balls that are similar which are great for getting the blood to the hands when you squeeze them (OK, I know how that reads!) aXe Quote CoC No 1 (L & R) and using Ivanko Supergripper to get to No 2. dimmers Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 just got my IM egg through the post, so i thought i'd put up a little review. first impressions are good! the egg is heavy and likely to last a long time. First few squeezes on this thing and i could tell it was designed for people with a strong grip! I don't think anyone would be disappointed with it (or find it too easy) and it works well for thumb work too. basically, i recommend it. Quote
spahn ranch Posted September 5, 2007 Author Posted September 5, 2007 Sounds good, dimmers. Think I'll get one too if I send for more IM stuff in the future. Quote Thomas, 36/6'1.5"/205/8.25" hands MMS RH #2.5, LH #2; CCS RH & LH #2 Strength and honour
