wscorpion Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 (edited) I actually wanted to buy and bend the 20mm stainless threaded, but it was more then 5 times as expensive as the galvanized. so I decided to stick with the galvanized bar. Luckely though, since this bar already required a hell of a lot of strength to bend it, I'm sure I wasn't able to bend the stainless one now... Still, I think the galvanized is a nice bend as well, especially for me since it really took a lot of strength for me At least it makes a nice trophy in my livingroom Here's the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQF22hJg5Vg Not sure where this puts me in comparison to HRS, but we'll see on the 8th of September in the UK (David Horne's Champions of Steel Contest), I believe thick long bars are one of the challenges as well Edited August 1, 2007 by White Scorpion Quote Mark Vogels -------------------- "Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right."

Tim71 Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Wow! I suspect you are going to do fine in the competition with the long bar. Very nice. Tim Quote
wscorpion Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 Thanks guys! Tim, I hope so Can't wait to give HRS a try with big bars, and stainless would be awesome since they make lasting trophies Quote Mark Vogels -------------------- "Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right."
Brad Manion Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Awesome bend. It looked tough, but you were determined to finish it. By using nearly every braced bend technique, you succeeded. Very well done. Just curious, how much did that bar cost you? My current PR is 36" x 5/8" HRS, and that cost about $15 USD. I've bent such a bar twice, and for whatever reason, the first attempt was very easy. The second bar, though, I had a lot of trouble, and finished the bend around the back of my neck. Not the brightest idea, in retrospect, but it made a nice souvenir for somebody at the demo I was doing. Good luck in your competition. Quote

Alawadhi Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 I think even the stainless went down. This didn't give much of a fight. Very strong Quote Read about me in my biography. wscorpion Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 Thanks guys!! Brad, I've payed approx. 7-8 dollar for this bar in the local hardware store. However, the hardware store just around the corner sells the same bars in the same dimensions for approx. 40 dollar! I still need to find a decent metal supplier around here, until then I'll just have to do with these absurd prices Quote Mark Vogels -------------------- "Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right."

wscorpion Posted August 4, 2007 Author Posted August 4, 2007 that was an impressive bend Mark, gonna give that a try soon but if you thought that thing was tough i seriously doubt that i can take it Thanks mate! It's difficult to tell, I felt that thing was tough, but on the other hand, the last 2 weeks I also felt that bending a 6" bastard or red equivalent felt tough as well. I think this has something to do with the work I've been doing in my bathroom the last 2 weeks. I'm just dead tired from working 12-14 hours a day now, for 2 weeks, so maybe when I'm fit again this bar feels much lighter Just give it a try, you'll never know Quote Mark Vogels -------------------- "Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right."
rednail300 Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 If you are working that much i can understand why youre tired, by the way have you tried to bend some fbbc stainless, a shiny bastard or something? Not yet. I'm still trying to figure out a way for paying for it without a CC. Hopefully I will be able to do so soon, it would be a nice trophy to bend a huge shiny or something like that Quote Mark Vogels -------------------- "Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right."
