I no his name is John(and I think his last name is Connor from looking at some of his other videos) just wanted to no if he was a member here that I just haven't seen. lifesnotfair Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Funny, I had just found that video a couple of days ago, and thought of posting it in here as well, but I think it was posted a few months back. That's some raw power, with NO TECHNIQUE AT ALL... I reckon he'd be closer than that with a set, and even with a CCS probably a bit closer, maybe a tad past parallel, who knows. Quote
Matt Brouse Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Matt Brouse appreciate the responce, do you no if he has closed the #3? To take an experienced guess from the run he gave that #4...I'd say yeah. I would hope so. Quote 2013 Grip Goals DO Axle 450 - Current 413 Gripper 190 - Current 173 2HP 220 - Current 210 Total 860 - Current 796 Little Big Horn 240 - Current 215 IM Hub 70 - Current 55
Brad Manion Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 (edited) I've met John and competed against him at the 2006 Mid Missouri Strongman Contest. I've talked with him a little bit on the KCStrongman forum, where he posts his training, and he trains very hard with lots of high volume stuff. Not what you'd expect from someone his size, about 6' 5" tall and about 340 lbs (if I remember right). I must mention, however, that even while he seems to do traditional high volume work (many sets and reps) he also does high volume with lots of big singles. Also, not just from viewing this attempt of his at a #4 or the one time I competed against him last year, I can say that he is SCARY strong. To give you an idea of this .... it seems he hurt himself pretty bad at a strongman contest in mid-June. I go to check out the KCStrongman forum recently, and he posted a video of him pulling 765 lbs to just above his knees before he bailed. Also, I believe it was sometime in May or June, but one of his training partners posted on that forum how John closed the #3 for reps. As of yet, I don't know if he's tried for the certification. Wes Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 I've talked to him and he's a cool guy. Freakishly strong, I think he's putting up a 375 log these days. He's famous for breaking stuff, there was a story a guy told about how they were all out drinking after a strongman comp, he got pissed at a light pole and punched it.. And it went out Also broke a barstool, rail and restroom door by accident as well if I remember right Quote There is a natural order. The way things are meant to be. An order that says the good guys always win, that you die when it's your time or when you have it coming, that the ending is always happy-if only for someone else.
