wscorpion Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Had my first encounter with a long bar today. It was the only thick bar I could find, and I was in doubt whether to get the 18mm or 20mm threaded bar, but I decided to go safe and take the 18mm. Afterwards I'm pretty certain I could've taken the 20mm as well, but that's for another time Here's the video of the bend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IM7dJ8GNNlc As you can see I'm struggling with the technique, but I managed to bend it anyway Quote Mark Vogels -------------------- "Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right."

gazza Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Mark nice work mate. I thought you were gonna pinch your plums between the end of the bars at one time Quote "There he goes. wscorpion Posted July 29, 2007 Author Posted July 29, 2007 Thanks guys! Mark nice work mate.I thought you were gonna pinch your plums between the end of the bars at one time Gazza, what are plums? (sorry i'm not a native english speaker ) I was hoping to get it closer together, but it's just too springy.... Still looking for HRS in thicker steel though Quote Mark Vogels -------------------- "Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right."
gazza Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Mark the ends of the bar got awfully close to you Testacles we call them plums, nuts, bollocks, scotes etc would have been a painfull lesson if you had crushed those between the ends of the bar Quote "There he goes. boland magyar Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Markthe ends of the bar got awfully close to you Testacles we call them plums, nuts, bollocks, scotes etc would have been a painfull lesson if you had crushed those between the ends of the bar now that would hurt Quote
Tim71 Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Big congrats on that bar. Sometimes threaded rod can snap so you're lucky there. I bet you'll do fine in all the comps even if you don't get to try a long bar of HRS before since you can pull acrossed you're knee so good. Later, Tim Quote

Even though it looks stupid Big congrats on that bar. Sometimes threaded rod can snap so you're lucky there. I bet you'll do fine in all the comps even if you don't get to try a long bar of HRS before since you can pull acrossed you're knee so good.Later, Tim Thanks! I've never seen any threaded bars snap right away on the first bend, not this stuff at least, but I was a bit worried about it when bending this bar. Pulling around my knee may be a strong part of the bend for me, but taking it over to finish it isn't, so it's still hard to predict my bending on long bars. I think when I will be in the store again I will buy the 20mm stainless threaded, If I can bend that one on 1 meter length, then I'm pretty happy with the bend Quote Mark Vogels -------------------- "Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right."
