layla Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 who is seen as one of the best in pinch grip strength? To be more specific, who has attained recognizable lifts using pinch power and are they here? I want to train with a purpose and not waste my time ineffectively. In the short amt of time I have been training pinch,I have noticed increased finger strength and my hands are filling out. Bearcat 74 Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 David Horne, Wade Gillingham, Chad Woodall, Nick Mckinless, Scott Clayton and several more I am forgetting. Plenty of people here with great pinch strength. Quote Real Name: Heath Sexton Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there. nickr104 Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 (edited) David Horne, Wade Gillingham, Chad Woodall, Nick Mckinless, Scott Clayton and several more I am forgetting. Plenty of people here with great pinch strength. What Heath said. http://www.jackalsgym.com/athletes/html/wg.html I think Wade is right at the top with his domination of the blob and is also good in close. Wounder what he would be able to 2 hand pinch? http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?automod...si&img=3059 Edited July 19, 2007 by nickr104 Quote Nick RosendaulI am a Upser"I slept with John Eaton and lived to tell about it!"
lifesnotfair Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 What about Tommy Heslep? He pinched 2-45's with thumb and two fingers, blob, Inch (truly PINCHED the Inch! Heh), etc. Heath doesn't mention himself on the list, but he lifted 3-25's and 6-10's, so he must be in it too. But whoever pinches 3-15kg's or 3-35lb's is just a MONSTER, and I only know of Wade and Chad doing that, so in my eyes, they're the monsters. Quote
climber511 Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I'd add Martin and Jedd to the list plus there are a few contests coming up in the next few months which could always yield a new guy or two to the list. To see the results so far from competitions check out http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?showtopic=14323 . This shows the Euro two hand pinch results. One hand is much different it seems with a few having done 2-45s, 3-25s, 5-10s, 6-10s, Blobs, etc. Some of the same people but some differences as well - one hand and two hand follow along but not exactly. Quite a few people are much better one way than the other. twig Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 (edited) I'm glad someone mentioned Jedd, his was the second name that came to mind after David's, and Doc's got to get an honourable mention, given his blob-juggling skills! Darco Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I would say Chad is at the top right now, 3 - 35's. Quote "What I do tests my endurance. Anybody can lift a car but it's how long can you keep it raised and endure the pain" -Hugo Girard Ezekiel 23:20
climber511 Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 One of life's little mysteries to me is why some people do well say two handed and are comparatively weaker with one hand - I'm one of those and need to figure out why and what to do about it. The Mac Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 In a word, wrists. Taking it to a ridiculous extreme, if you could generate enough "snapping" torque with the wrists you could lift a given weight without pinching it in the accepted sense. Quote Chris McCarthy
thearm95 Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Richard Sorin IMO. yeah, that was a glaring omission - the first name that came into my head too. Quote Duncan.

Ray Hansford Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Havnt been here for a while but after seeing a video a while ago of Wade doing a farmers walk with an Inch and Blob(Not just 2 meters either) And Im sure he would have improved even more since then.
