vikingsrule92 Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Today was the Arizona griptogether and Wes, Aaron (acorn), Brandon (BrandonA), and John (ship) showed up from the board along with my dad, my stepbrother, and around 4 of Aaron's friends. Everyone had some amazing PRs and I'll let them write about there own stuff. As for me I finally closed the #2 (in front of John Eaton via Webcam) and I had 4 PR/Cert bends. I bent the 1/4" x 6" G8, the 1/4" x 5" G5, the 1/4" x 6.5" square, and the bastard. I'll soon post the pic of all of these bends and Aaron should post the videos in the next few days. My dad bent a 6" G5 in his first serious bending day (everything before was just a bend here and there) and a piece of 7" x 9/32". Brandon and John were prett much just learning everything but they still had some very good bends their first times, such as a Blue nail for John and a 60d (I think) for Brandon. I'll let them tell you everything but I just want to mention that Aaron took down an Insane bastard, and Wes got the #3 with 2 fingers. Mods, please don't lock this as this is the same as last time, Aaron will post the vids as soon as he gets them off his camera and we are NOT posting feats without eveidence. Quote
BrandonA Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Man I had a blast. This was my 1st experance with bending in person, much like going to a power lifting meet. It was a great pleasure to meet everyone. For my 1st time bending, I managed a 1/4" dia X 7 crs and I put a small dent in a 60d. I was having trouble with my shoulder flexibility and had a hell of a time getting the stock under my chin, so the guys had my bending dbl. over hand, the nail was a bit too much for my wrists today, but I will get that beast and then upward.... The guys also let me play with some grippers, all I currently have is a toy with plastic handles...I closed the COC trainer and #! pretty easy, got the #2 with in a 1/4", but I need a lot of work on my sets.... Arron, thanks for having me over, it was awesome, you are a beast sir... D and Wes are some of the strongest kids I have ever met and a great couple of guys... Oh yea, the phone book.....My goal of tearing a h\phone book took a giant step froward today, After watching Wes and Arron shred a few, I managed to rip 1/2 half thick book, about 3/4"...using the pop-tear method, full book to follow soon, just have to "acquire" a few more....lol... I had a blast, can't wait for the next time...I'll be training hard.. -B Quote "dont ever give up...dont ever fall....remember the code. Strength and Honor." -rcrott1
acorn Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 There was definately some serious PRs happening to everyone here. I put a decent hurt on Wes's #4. Prolly to 3/8 or 5/16. It might have been 1/4. I pulled the blob and 5 tens again, broke 2 45s off a little I think. I pulled 185 on the RT at the end after 7hrs. I did an edgin, the 7x5/16 SS sq in prolly 2 minutes. I did a Mag Hex in prolly a couple minutes to 1 5/8 an insane Bastard in a couple minutes I think to 1 3/4. I was gonna make an attempt a the grand shiny or mag shiny but the power went out. So I tried to kink a 5/16x7 Sq CRS. I got a 1 penny kink, then prekinked to 30 deg and moved it to 90 deg. At that point I added a 1/2" ext to one of the legs and moved it to 2 1/4 with much pain and a few stars and brown outs. One of them put me on my back. I prolly spent 20+minutes working on that last square. I clean and jerked my 52# wide pinch granite stone. Played with my Inch simulator. Tore some phone books. We also had some great barbeque. A good time was had by all. There were some kinck butt PRs all around. I even got the crazy eyes and did some hollering. - Aaron Quote ** Retired **
vikingsrule92 Posted July 15, 2007 Author Posted July 15, 2007 Brandon, it was great to meet you, you did amazing for your first time and if you work on it you'll be a monster before long. Yeah Aaron it was a hell of a time and nobody left there without some giant PR under their belt, hell of a job on that 5/16" square to, that thing cals at 705 lbs. The pics are up in my gallery of my PR bends, my dad's PR bends and of Wes's Red Cert bend. Quote
bencrush Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Big congrats to everyone there! Aaron, I knew you'd kill that Insane man!!! So glad to hear you put it out of its misery today. And a Mag Hex is wonderful too. The 5/16"X7" SS Square is unfathomable to me. I bet you would have killed a Grand and possibly even a Mag Shiny today. What an incredible grip meeting! Quote

Wes Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 (edited) Stuff for me was -New bastard -Edgin, took it to about 120 and quit then a few minutes later realized that my crushdown technique was wrong and finished it in about 10 seconds -Certified on the Ironmind Red Nail, it took exactly 6.3 seconds -No set IMTUG #7 pretty easily -#4 to a quarter or mabye a bit less -3/8th x 7'' Cold Rolled Steel less than a minute easy (wanna say this was upper 500's Aaron?) -FBBC 5/16th stainless steel square to 90 degrees -Pinch gripped 2 45's about 3 inches up -there was 270 on a vbar sitting there and I just picked it up no warmup -got 270 on a baseline dynanometer might be some kind of record, not sure. Got 260 on video, the 270 was my first squeeze -York 50lb blob high pull -TNS MM4 specced SE to ~1/4'' -Brace bend 12'' spike -Some 1/2'' HRS over the back of my neck Aaron was freaking amazing with that big square (and every other damn thing!) Derek raped a bastard at 15 years old! And Big John was just an awesome guy that had the amazing ability to take away all aches and pains from bending.
